Antojos is a family style restaurant serving a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes , desserts and specialty coffees and cocoa and alcoholic beverages and also provides a kids menu . The restaurant is a pay before you eat establishment and they bring the food to you they have a self serve salsa bar consisting of several different types of salsa , cabbage, pickled onions, radishes and limes . This restaurant has a very unique and pretty atmosphere the decor is more bistro style than Mexican restaurant style with open concept seating with booths and tables a fire place and a comfy area adorned with couches to sip a coffee and eat a mexican bread or crepes. We ordered a carne asada burrito a asada torta , fries and fried ice cream the food was beautiful and the portions were large but unfortunately the food was bland the meat was tender and the salsas were fresh but there was a absence of Mexican spices like cumin and garlic and the beans were very bland I couldn't tell if there was lard in the beans that contribute to the flavor I feel like the only seasoning they use is salt . The fries were good they do not have fry sauce and they don't give you mayo to make it , the fried ice cream was flavorless it had a nice crunch but the vanilla ice cream was not high quality. For these reasons I gave this establishment a 3 star they need to enhance on the flavor of there food. Total cost of the food with a Mexican coke and a tip was...
Read moreBreakfast was delicious and just a little different from anything I've had before. I felt like is was more authentic. But no review of this place is complete without saying how incredibly courteous all the staff is. There are many more breakfast items to choose from, I'll keep going back.
I've had to edit my review based on my second visit. I had a very awkward breakfast item that was physically difficult to eat. It had egg, avocado, tomato, cheese, etc piled on a very hard style of bread. The bread could not be cut with knife and fork and all the topping slid off when I tried to pick it up and eat it like toast. As I was leaving I mentioned the difficulty I had with this menu option and the nicest thing I can say about her response is 'it was unsympathetic'. This experience, together with the fact that it's the type of place where you order, pay, and tip at the counter before seeing your food is why Antojos will not be a breakfast destination for me again. I really don't want to hear that argument that 'tipping is optional', it's not. Most restaurant employees are exempt from minimum wage rules and depend on tips. The amount of tip is determined by the quality of the food and service. How can that be done if you're expected to tip the moment...
Read moreLet me first say that I’m not a huge fan of Americanized Mexican food. I’ve lived in Mexico and they don’t use as much cheese as they do here.
With that being said this was a great restaurant. I was our first time here. The service was very nice and polite. The girl helping out us had a beautiful smile and was extremely helpful. The decor was probably the best I’ve seen. It’s cute but not over the top Mexican / Rancho vibe.
The food is was very good. The street tacos were some of the best I’ve tried. The burritos were good. The tortillas used were delicious and from what I could tell hand made fresh. A party member had the chimichangas and it was huge. The fried tortilla bread was excellent. I just didn’t like the amount of cheese in the burritos, chimichangas, or on some of the meal.
I will return because it was good...
