Refresh Community Church — Local services in University City

Refresh Community Church for me has lived up to its name. Before the name change I came over during a really difficult season of deep church when I needed a new experience of church and a safe space and it was exactly that for me. Is this church perfect? Of course not church is literally a bunch of flawed people but God is doing something beautiful here. To worship, be in community, and serve along side people who are black, white, brown, rich, poor, middle class, liberal, conservative, grew up in church, new to church, old, young, tatted, periced and clean cut, fancy or plan Jane, and whatever else is incredible. When I stop and just look around still it's jaw dropping especially in University City, in St. Louis MO just north of Delmar. We couldn't make this happen God...

A friend invited me to attend, I was hesitant to go but when the church I was visiting could no longer serve my 8 year old niece with special needs I decided to give Refresh community church a try. Refresh community church has an excellent childcare and student ministry. They strive for inclusion of children at every skill level and work with families to provide the best childcare experience possible. Refresh kids staff don’t simply babysit children while adults go to service they share Jesus with the children at every age. Not only is Refresh community church inclusive they are friendly and really strive to show the love of Christ to all who walk through the doors.

Formally The Journey Hanley Road, Refresh Community Church has been my home church for as long as I've lived in St Louis! This community doesn't shy away from confronting the multitude of divisions made extremely apparent by the news and our own lived experiences. Yet we worship together even as we are in the muck of dismantling our hurdles to that important commandment: love one another.
