I wanted to like Diego's just based on the fact we've had such good experiences at Frida's, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. We walked in to place a carry out order and were the first party seated at the bar. We ordered some enchiladas, a fish taco, and some rice. We paid in cash and at first the change came back $10 short. Upon getting the bartender's attention the first thing he says it that he owes us $10. It's a busy night, he's moving around, not a super big deal. The couple seated next to us gets their food. We ordered for 3, they ordered for 2. After the couple next to them gets served, I see a conversation happening between the bartender and who I assume to be the manager. We were offered chips, salsa, and drinks while we waited. Now, we had been told multiple times that our order was on its way out, but people who arrived after us were served first. After waiting for an hour we finally got our food. The couple next to us had already finished eating and left. It's apparent that our order never went in, yet no one was honest enough to say that. Upon arriving home, we opened the bag to chips and no salsa with mixed up lids on our food. I'm glad we caught it because we deal with different food allergies. Maybe it was just an off night or maybe it's a regular occurrence. The ambience was nice, the music was good, but I'm not sure if we'll...
Read moreI had the misfortune of dining at Diego's Cantina recently, and it was an unmitigated disaster. Our server, Angela, looked like she just rolled out of bed and put on the first thing she found on the floor. Her apron was filthy, and her shirt was covered in dog hair. But hey, maybe I could've overlooked the slovenly appearance if the service had been decent. Nope.
Angela was surly, inattentive, and seemed put off by our presence. She managed to screw up my margarita order not once, but twice. She also forgot to refill our drinks multiple times and took an inordinate amount of time to take our orders and deliver our food. To make matters worse, she got my order wrong, cold, and it tasted like cardboard.
Chicken and cheese? Are you kidding me? That's not Mexican food; that's an insult to Mexican food. She seemed completely uninterested in addressing our concerns or apologizing for the mistakes.
The only thing that didn't suck was the decor. But who cares about decorations when the service and food are this atrocious? It's clear that the owner needs to step up their game and hire more qualified staff. Servers like Angela are a liability, and it's only a matter of time before they drive away even more customers.
Unless you enjoy being treated like dirt and eating subpar food, stay FAR, FAR AWAY from Diego's Cantina. One star is even too generous...
Read moreThis was my second time eating here. We came about a year and a half ago and loved the food; however, the service was not very good. We decided to try again - this time with our three kids and our parents. The food was good, though not as good as we remembered. Our biggest problem, again, was with the service. Our meal was actually going fine until the end. We ordered dessert and asked for the bill at the same time because the kids were getting restless. We paid the bill and had been waiting a little over 10 minutes for the grilled banana when one of the hostesses came over and said to my husband that the next table had arrived and was waiting. A few problems on this: (1) My mother-in-law had paid the bill and was clearly in charge -- so why not speak to her? It is interesting that one always goes to the male at the table. (2) Their website says each table sits for 90 minutes. Our reservation was for 5:45 and it was 6:45 when the hostess came over - technically we still had 30 minutes at our table had we chosen to use it. (3) Before you come over to basically kick us out of your restaurant, perhaps you should check if we are waiting for food. To be fair to the restaurant, after 60 minutes, my kids were getting a bit wild. We were ready to leave. We wanted to leave. We were just waiting for the dessert we...
