I've shopped at auction houses around the world. I've had many good experiences and met many kind or at least interesting people. Uniques and Antiques near Aston, Pennsylvania is by far, without a doubt, 100%, the absolute worst auction house that I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. All the faults that you might find at other auction houses (borderline psychotic/undiagnosed autistic staff, intense pursuit of your wallet, confusing and possibly illegal condition and terms, soiled and not-completely-as-described objects for sale, non-existent customer service, reckless handling of your goods, poor treatment of deliver men, workers, etc.) are here, at the same time, on steroids and without shame. Kent and his cronies will hound you for your money. They will sell you items in unsanitary condition. They will lie in regard to attribution and condition. They will overcharge you if you don't do your own math. They will offer delivery until you've paid and then they disappear from the face of the earth. They will send things to you in completely disheveled state. They won't even take the time to roll up a rug that you just purchased. They will throw your items face down onto the floor in front of you or heave it into the back of a dirty van. They want your money at Uniques and Antiques and once they have it, they will do nothing for you. So people if you are reading this and you are considering shopping here, BEWARE and RECONSIDER. I urge you because even though I don't know you, I know you don't deserve what awaits you at Uniques and Antiques. Email me and I'll gladly send you a list of auction houses within driving distance that have not only a great inventory but also are run by kind, decent people. If you have made purchases at Uniques and Antiques already and are unclear about something or feel as though something is wrong in terms of what you are being charged or how you are being treated, DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR ITEMS, YOU"VE INSPECTED and APPROVED THEM. You have the right to withhold payment. Don't let them pressure you or fool you into thinking you have to do otherwise. I hope this review helps someone out there that is considering buying from or consigning to Uniques and Antiques to reconsider this and it saves them from going through the hell that I...
Read moreWell, I don't know who this Ty Bo -see a previous review - is, but he's either an idiot, a competitor, or he is commenting on the wrong auction. Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm 80 years old and have been in the antique/auction business since about 1982. I'm not in it as a business, I just love it and enjoy the people. I just buy a little and sell a little. I've been to auctions in North and South Carolina, Florida, La., Arizona, Washington, Missouri, New England, Pa.,. and numerous points in between. Now about Uniques and Antiques (I call it U&A). Don't expect an environment like Christies or Sothebees. Kent saves on the rent and passes it on to the buyers and sellers. The staff is great. I've never failed to get help when necessary. His selection is very broad. An important consideration here is the knowledge of the auctioneers. If one of them says"you're not looking" you better look. I've never been to one of their auctions and failed to buy items. And now on to a subject not discussed much in the auction business. Honesty. U & A is an honest auction. Numerous times I've left bids and won the item with $$ less than my left bid. Anyone who has frequented auctions, knows that this is a good sign. His delivery schedule is something I see as rather unique in the business. You can buy something on site or on line and have it delivered in the NYC area the next day or two. What a great idea and a great benefit to both buyers and sellers. No! I'm not a part owner. I'm just a farm boy from North Carolina who knows a good thing...
Read moreI am thrilled with my selling experience. During the last 4 months of 2020, I have sold over 250 items with Uniques & Antiques. They really know their business and their customers. My experience has been that you can depend on their evaluations of your items and their estimations about expected price range for the items. But we also had some very special paintings, furnishings, and art pieces where the potential buyers for some of these items were mainly in Europe. U&A actively sought potential buyers and raised the level of interest for these works through use of the internet. The results on these works were way beyond our expectations. They are very responsive and personable. Based on my recent extensive experience, I recommend U&A...
