I’ve had two experiences with Kieffer’s, and unfortunately, after the second, I can’t confidently recommend them. My first experience in 2023 was great, and I returned to them, including the same salesperson, for new kitchen appliances (microwave, range, and dishwasher) based on that. However, my second experience was far worse.
The team scheduled to remove my old appliances and install the new ones was on time and friendly. They did a good job of moving out the old appliances. But when it came time to install the new ones, especially the range, it was clear others should have been sent in their place. Granted, the entrance to my home isn’t a cakewalk, but considering that I had two large appliances moved in and out two years prior from the same company, I didn’t think it would be an issue. And with due diligence, proper planning, and communication it should not have been an issue. The delivery team tried and failed to lift the range and bring it into my home. They had to call two off-duty colleagues, one of whom was one of the men who installed my washer and dryer (Keith). He and Jay were able to get the range in my home. They then left their colleagues to finish installation which I thought would be easy at this point but it was not.
The team had to leave to get a part from a home improvement store — which they did without notice — and when they returned, the range wasn’t fully working. The burners worked but the touch screen and oven didn’t. After several hours, they called the store owner, who made an offhand comment about the effort to bring the appliances into my home. As if I wasn’t paying good money for these appliances and carving out extensive time in my schedule for them to be installed — by not two, but four mind you, people. The owner assured me that a GE technician would come the next week to address the issues.
The technician was rude and claimed my wiring was off, though I hadn’t had issues with my previous range. After hiring an electrician, I found that the wrong plug had been applied to the panel, which should’ve been noticed by someone familiar with installations. Kieffer’s agreed to cover the electrician’s costs — though this never happened — and the range finally worked, but it made a concerning sound.
After sharing videos of the noise with my salesperson, they thought something might’ve come loose during installation and wanted to send another GE technician. By this time, we were three weeks into the process, and I didn’t have a working range. The second technician was even worse than the first, staying for only 7 minutes and offering no solution. I was livid because it felt like I was being dismissed about a serious issue with a brand-new appliance.
When I spoke to my salesperson again, the sales director stepped in to take over the situation and gave me two options: deal directly with GE or return the appliance to Kieffer’s. I chose the latter, and Keith and Jay removed the range (I can't speak highly enough about them). I then decided to look at other options at Gerhard’s.
Here’s the kicker: After seeing other potential ranges, I still wanted the same one I initially ordered from Kieffer’s. I showed Gerhard’s sales team the videos, and they immediately agreed the noise was abnormal. They contacted their GE rep, who confirmed it within minutes! Gerhard’s gave me two options: send someone to fix the range (which I thought was a very kind offer) or place a new order. I chose to reorder, and within days, I had a new range installed seamlessly. The delivery team was in and out within 20 minutes, and I’ve had no issues since. Imagine that, cooking in peace in quiet!
All of this could’ve been avoided with better communication, patience, and diligence. Unfortunately, Kieffer’s lost a customer who would’ve been loyal in...
Read moreI recently renovated my kitchen and purchased all of my new appliances from Kieffer's Appliances. The sales person I dealt with, Agata Widuch, was wonderful to deal with. The appliances were delivered and then installed approximately a week later. I immediately noticed the refrigerator was not very good at all. It moved, it was loud, it had a dent in it, the bottom panel seemed off and the doors opened into my new cabinets. The contractors working on my kitchen added pieces of wood under the back wheels to keep it from moving. When I heard the very loud noises, I pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and noticed the wood pieces. I asked about it and we investigated with GE that apparently this is how they make side-by-side refrigerators -- the wheels do not lock. I called the appliance store and my sales representative is now on maternity leave. I spoke with John Kieffer who said he would come out and take a look. He came one morning and told me that added the wood to the back wheels was the only thing he could do. He would order me a new door for my dent through GE, but basically I was out of luck on all of the other complaints because the items was used and they do not return or exchange refrigerators. He told me he would follow up once the door was shipped to have someone come out and install the new door. The door was shipped to my house and I received no call. It has now been sitting in my garage for two weeks now. I called on Monday, April 25th and left a message and have not received a call back. I told the representative, Chris, on the line that I was still very unhappy with the product and that I would really like to exchange it. The product is even louder with the piece of wood under the wheels and I can't imagine why this would be. He told me he would have John call me, but no response. I spent over $8000 at their store and I am asking to have better customer service regarding one appliance and it has been lousey. John basically told me I was out of luck on my refrigerator. I find this to be completely unacceptable and do not want any other consumer to have to go...
Read moreInsufficiently trained installation technicians. I would hesitate to recommend this business to friends and family.
I ordered a gas Bosch range from Kieffer's. I paid extra to have them convert it to liquid propane fuel and install it. At the end of the install they realized there was an issue with one of the electrodes used to light the burner. They offered to take the range back and bring another one, or schedule a service to have it fixed and I could use the other burners, but not the oven for some unexplained reason, in the meantime. Since the install was not complete they told me to hold onto the payment check. I decided to trust them to make it right and did not request an entirely new range as I thought that would cause undue burden to their business. The warranty service tech came out 2 days later, found that the electrode part was defective, and ordered a replacement that he would install when it arrived. I also asked him to check over the rest of the functions, and when he did, he instantly found the oven was not converted to LP correctly and was shooting flames into the main oven compartment. As anyone who lives with a young family would, I was disappointed that the gas conversion was done incorrectly and put my family and our home at risk. I reached out to my sales rep and he said he would refund the conversion and installation fee and would send out a technician that same day to fix what they could, but did not offer a concrete plan to prevent this installation error from happening to other customers in the future. Disappointing. They came out and fixed the LP conversion, but could not fix the electrode. Eventually the backordered electrode arrived and was replaced under warranty and Keiffer’s mailed a refund check for the install. Given the insufficiently trained staff and extra inconvenience of this transaction I would hesitate to recommend this business to...
