We stopped here on our way through for the first time and we were so excited looking at their brunch menu online. House made focaccia? Locally sourced ingredients? Yes please! A little pricey but worth it for quality food. Unfortunately we left very disappointed.
The focaccia was hard and dry. So much so that my mom and I had to cut half of the top and bottom of our sandwiches off just to be able to eat it. All 3 orders of fries were burnt. My husband's burger was ok but he felt it was nothing to write home about and overpriced. They were out of a protein for one meal and it had to be swapped for another.
Now on to the service...We were given 3 menus for the 4 of us and told by Avery that she'd get us another one. Never did. We ordered waters and 2 coffees. Had to ask again for coffee and another lady brought it. Then had to get up and get our own spoon to stir the coffee. Asked 3 times for water at which point we were already eating our meal. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Don't remember hearing a sorry during any of our time there which was awhile.
Looked like Avery was the only server for everyone. Maybe they were understaffed but it certainly did not make for an enjoyable experience. Definitely will be our first and...
Read moreOn a getaway weekend and stopped in for brunch. We were overwhelmed by the place. Clean, wonderful inventive menu, fresh ingredients, and one of the friendliest servers we have ever had. The short rib hash was very flavorful, and the eggs were farm fresh, and cooked to perfection. We also had the sweet potatoe biscuits and gravy, which also was incredibly flavored. As good as the food was, they were complimented by amazing cocktails. The Apple Sauced was an interesting blend of cider and spiced rum. As well, the 1845, a bourbon based drink with mulled blackberries and lime was also amazing. I appreciated that the majority of their menu was local sourced, including the liquors from Ohio based distilleries. Lindsey, our server and the manager, was delightful, taking the time to give spot on recommendations and directions on hw to duplicate the drinks. She did warn us though that they may not turn out as good as hers, since we don't have her "touch". I am afri she will probably be right. Makes me wish we were closer than 2 hours, because the visit was...
Read moreI would give a 12/10 if possible. As someone who grew up in Upper Sandusky, and then went onto culinary school I can say this restaurant surpassed all of my expectations..and then some.
I went at lunchtime, and split the Fort Burger as well as the Cubano with my mother. The food was balanced, and focused. Not too much nor too little. With the balance of the acidity from the housemade mustard to the rich meat which made up the burger, it left my palate refreshed and ready for the next bite. The Cubano is a MUST.. and I encourage you to try, as I have not found the right words to describe its deliciousness.
The fry sauce should actually be illegal..so so good!
We also got the Espresso Martini ( the best I ever had) and the Gingersnap Highball, which is a mocktail option. I asked for Seedlip Grove instead of the garden because it has ginger in it as well.. and I can never have enough. The drinks were also cleancut and devilishly good.
Kelsey is a wealth of knowledge, and I truly only see a bright future ahead...
