Ron-A-Roll Indoor Roller Skating Center — Local services in Vernon

With the lack of roller skating rinks around, I really wanted to love this place. It seems to be weathering the storm. The biggest issue is there lack of staff. There's was a line out the door to pay to get in for open skate that starts at 7 pm. We arrived at 7:30 and stood in line until they opened a second register for credit card only. Then you pick up your skates and enjoy! The DJ played pretty good music. The skate guard was the same kid who handed out skates, so he was back and forth doing both jobs. The rules were not being followed with lack of supervision. Kids skating the wrong direction, parents carrying their kids while skating, people holding hands 3-4 people across, and people just sitting in the middle of the floor instead of quickly getting up. So you learn some dodging skills. Long line to get food or drinks... again lack of staff. Two women working the cooking, registers, and orders. They both seemed stressed and over worked. I ordered three sodas, two orders of buffalo chicken wings, and 1 order of mozzarella sticks. It took 40 minutes to get my complete order and issues with staff. They gave us one order of wings (6 wings) and said it was two combined ($18- $9 an order). I sent my daughter up to ask how many wings are in an order because her mom wanted to know. The women told my daughter, "it all depends on the size of the wing and if your mom has a problem she can come over to speak to her." I did speak with her and explained I didn't get what I paid for, after a bit of attitude she agreed to get me the second order. She brought it to our table after, so it made the experience a little better. Besides the lack of staff and issues with customer service, the floor was okay. I really do love Ron-a-Roll. Skating is an old hobby of mine that has been revived, so I come here at least once a week. Reasonable prices, the rink itself is in good condition.

The owner is extremely nice and helpful, he even let me try his own personal skates before buying a similar pair for myself.

My main issue is the staff. Some of them are extremely rude with no manners. One time I stood at the front counter for over five minutes waiting for pay to get in. When I saw a staff member, I told him I still needed to pay. He said “oh, okay” and turned the opposite direction and started talking in his cell phone. I‘ll say, “thank you, have a nice day” and they just stare at me with no response. No smiles anywhere either. Just the bare minimum effort and interaction possible. It really puts a sour taste in my mouth, and customer service is very important as it leave impression on customers.

This dump makes you feel like you're walking into a correctional facility with all their outside "warning postings" and so-called Rules and Regulations. You go through a metal detector, then God forbid if you're wearing a hat. I think these kiddie clowns have one hand on the phone ready to call the police if you question this absurd rule or their authority. What a joke...

The earlier posting of a woman going through chemo was informed by some 20 something year old (owner) kid she wasn't allowed to wear her hat for "safety reasons." Oh please, do any of these "kiddies" have an ounce of common sense! The woman wasn't even on their lousy warped roller rink. These clowns worry about security and safety; tell you what: FIX THE THAT MESS YOU CALL A PARKING LOT!!! The thing looks like it was hit by mortar fire! I almost broke my neck walking into this pit!
