Update 9/28/20: gym owner has banned me from gym for my review. I'm sure more positive reviews will be after me now to flood the stars. Changing to 1 star
If you were looking for a 24/7 gym with only a couple amenities but plenty of workout equipment and a fair price then this place would be good for you.
But generally this place is packed with people until about 7:00 or 9:00 at night, almost every single day of the week. Most people do not wear a mask when coming here, most do not wash their hands, equipment is usually not cleaned up after about half the people. There is an overabundance of equipment, not enough plates or weights themselves and very little room which when filled with people makes it impossible to either be 6 ft away from others or to even work out without having to walk around someone else at some point.
The nice thing is that a lot of people that do work out here put in effort to become stronger and more fit and there's not as much of an older crowd that walks on the treadmills or a way younger crowd that lifts a couple items and walks out after 10 minutes.
The only problem is that because these are people that are putting effort into their bodies that they are generally here for one to three hours and people will steal your equipment you were using so you have to constantly be near it. I'm talking you go to the bathroom and someone's using your equipment and then doesn't wipe it off. There is plenty of meatheads per se, lots of people slapping their chest, grunting, yelling, dropping weights, generally a very vocal crowd that will let you know when they're benching by yelling out "lightweight baby". You can see plenty of people that quarter rep their squat and will high five three to four other guys on their new perceived record. if you like the ego lifting then you'll see that here for sure.
Also if you like to look up, every 3 minutes and see someone check themselves out in the mirror 3 to 7 times per set they do, then you'll fit in. There's plenty of people that like to record themselves or take pictures which is fine and if the narcissism doesn't bother you then it's all good. I'm all good for people to better themselves but to constantly be flexing in the mirror is a little bit annoying for some reason.
There are plenty of paper towels to actually clean your hands with and wipe down equipment in the general area. But there's never enough paper towel in the bathroom and the garbages are almost always overflowing and the vents or air filters are in need of cleaning as they are full of dust. When you spray down equipment you don't know what's in the chemical bottles as it's constantly changed out between soapy like water and bleach/water. And do not plan to drink out of the fountain, it's filthier than an outside fountain. It's probably cleaned every two weeks to a month at best and people will spit in it.
Equipment is bought faster and more frequent than the cleaning that gets done here. So if the Corona virus doesn't bother you the sweat that dries on everything might. And if you have a problem with people not putting away weights or cleaning anything off, it is not enforced whatsoever so don't bother to complain or mention anything because you will not be listened to.
The owner is pleasant to talk to, generally has knowledge about different workout or weights, lifts big and heavy and is a nice person. But if you're going to ask for training from them I might advise against it as I've heard on multiple accounts that form doesn't matter as long as they get stronger. So that might not be the best way to learn.
My opinion is that if I had my home gym finished I would be using the home gym 100%. So at the moment I split my time up between here and there. This place is good enough to workout at and the community is generally receiving.
Basically if you come late enough you will not have to wait to use equipment, you will have enough weight / plates to use, you can pick your own music via a connected phone. The perfect gym does not exist but this one is good enough get...
Read moreI had the pleasure of lifting at Habit Fitness for about 7 months before moving and it is by far one of the best gyms Iâve been to. While it may not be the biggest gym youâll ever see, it fits everything you could ever need into the perfect amount of space. Instead of having a bunch of equipment no one uses taking up space, Andy hand picks the weights and machines to best serve the members at Habit. Andy really cares about the gym and constantly enforces cleanliness and accountability to ensure the facility always looks nice and is in order. There is a solid feeling of community at the gym without the presence of toxic lifting culture. As a shift worker, Habit was the perfect gym to get a lift in at all hours of the day. The gym has always felt safe and welcoming. I never saw any trash talking about members and everyone was always super pumped to support one another. Habit also contains some of the strongest and motivated people Iâve seen in the Point area. I have a lot of respect for Andy and his ability to maintain a healthy gym environment. There is merch available to support the gym and coaching but it never feels pushed. You always feel like a member and not a customer. Regardless of your fitness level, Habit is a great place to start, continue, and push your progress when it comes to fitness. You can make great friends in the gym or workout in a hoodie with headphones without judgement. Iâll miss working out at Habit but itâs nice to know anytime I am back in town that there is always a solid gym...
Read moreHabit Fitness if by far the best gym in Central Wisconsin. The equipment is great and the members are respectful, but it all honestly comes down to the great owner. Andy does a great job of curating the vibe by not overcrowding the gym with members. He slowly adds members as he expands so there's never a time when the gym is overwhelming busy (Unlike Planet Fitness for instance). A person never has to change their workout routine at Habit because it's too busy. Andy is also always trying to improve the gym by changing the layout of equipment so that one area is never congested, getting top-notch equipment, providing fairly priced energy drinks, and simply being respectful.
It feels good lifting here.
On the surface, it might seem like a "bro-gym" (whatever that means) but it's honestly a judgment-free zone. It's a small community where most people know each other and are happy to help out. It's a great mix of serious lifting, with good conversation and laughter. It's the perfect place for someone who is just starting to work out or for someone who has been in the gym their whole life.
Doing personal training with Andy was amazing also. He does a great job of tailoring the personal training experience to your specific needs. He's extremely knowledgeable and will always be able to teach you how to improve. Even if you're someone who goes to the gym regularly!
It's clear that Andy has a serious passion for helping people and building a...
