What to say about Sauk Prairie Market? Well, I live in the same town and it is super convenient for my family or me to run over there for a few items or a missing ingredient. They have a great location and they have improved the store greatly over the Sentry that it was previously. I think they are trying. Would Sauk Prairie Market ever be my "go-to" grocery store? Absolutely not. Just like all businesses, they have their pros and cons. One of the biggest negatives is the selection of products available. They are a small store and it would be impossible for them to have the variety of a larger store, which makes them more of a candidate for when you just need a few items or a forgotten ingredient. They do have a combined bakery/deli that makes cakes, serves lunches/suppers, and has fresh donuts in the mornings. They have added significantly to their produce area to now include some basic organic items and a pretty good basic selection. Their liquor department is also a bonus and they have a large selection of beers, wines, and liquors. Another negative, to me, is their hours. They are only open until 9pm on weeknights and I guess I am used to most stores being open until 10pm, however I suppose that is a small town for you. I also think they are typically overpriced. Since this is a small town with the other local grocery store being in Sauk City (basically the other side of town) and any other option being at least a 20 minute drive, both stores have higher prices, but the SP market seems to be the highest. I would always rather drive down to Madison to do my regular grocery shopping to not only save money, but also have a much larger selection. I am also not a big fan of their hot deli foods. I have tried their fish fry a couple of times and have never been impressed. It is usually very dried out and spends too much time under the heat lamp, however their bakery is excellent. Some positives are, they are the only grocery store in town to have carpet cleaners for rent, they have done some remodeling, repaved the parking lot, and have added a lot more variety and do a much better job of inventory rotation than when it was Sentry, which many times had expired foods. Overall, for a small town grocery store, they are pretty decent and continuously...
