Dollar General — Local services in Vinton

The employees are what make this store! I have never been in this store where they do not have merchandise they are stocking unfortunately they usually don't have enough employees. The ladies are trying to work the registers and put up freight. The reasons I can not give it 5 stars are as follows: the entrance has been down to one door only for a very long time, I would have 7 months to a year. This to me shows that corporate obviously doesn't care about the condition of the store just the profit it makes. Secondly the prices, they are high especially surprising to me when there is a Family Dollar not far from it. Example of one of the latest price differences I noticed was I went to purchase one of the small hard plastic kiddie pools the price was $18! I was like that's to much for that small little pool so I left. On the way back home I wasn't going to stop at family dollar because I figured it be close to the same price but they had some out front of the store so I decided to pull in to see if they had price visible. I am glad I did. The same pool was $8!!! I now compare the prices of both stores by their ads, apps, and shopping and it has become aware to me Dollar General prices in Vinton are more expensive than the Family dollar in...

I just want to personally think the rainbow haired cashier at the Dollar General here in wonderful Vinton, Louisiana for not allowing my daughter and I who arrived at Dollar General before closing time, but the doors were already locked to get a simple box of hair dye for her first day at school. I would like everybody to think back to their anxiety about their first day at school and all the questions in your mind that might be occurring the night before as you lay your little head on your pillow and try to go to sleep and I just want to think this rainbow – looking Cashier nonmanagement for telling me that we couldn’t buy a $9.98 box of hair dye before 10 o’clock when is the schedule closing time miss congeniality you win the award for making my daughters first day at school the best damn day she could possibly have thank you and I hope you sleep well knowing that you contributed toher restful sleep and her wonderful day knowing that her hair was on Fleek I hope everyone in your life treats you as special as you did us...

This place can be a great place to shop at, depending on who is working and who is shopping.Sometimes rules are made up depending on the ethnic group of the shopper. I went into the store this morning to buy my daughter a birthday card and a gift card with my bank card and was refused. I was told by the cashier that I couldn’t use my bank card, that I had to use cash. I explained to him that I’ve used my card before in this manner with no problems.
