Good: Lots of wonderful items, shop is organized in a beautiful and engaging way.
Could use improvement: Last month at IFH, I purchased two Dala horses and the employee (owner?) started to put them in a big shopping bag with another item. I asked if they could be wrapped. She said, “I can put them in a smaller bag! Will that be okay?” and then quickly put them in a smaller paper shopping bag. I reluctantly said, “Umm…okay…” because I was completely caught off-guard by her response, only because right behind her in plain sight were oodles of boxes, tissue, and wrapping paper. The Dala horses were intended as gifts, and I didn’t disclose that, but thought she would have some respect for her items and at the very least wrap one in tissue to keep both of them from damaging each other. There wasn’t even anyone in line behind us…it appeared to us that she just didn’t want to wrap them. Perhaps there was a valid reason why she didn’t offer any sort of protection for them - the smaller bag did nothing. Is there a spending threshold I had to meet before being offered this service and a $130 order wasn’t enough? Are gifts only wrapped for online orders? It will forever be a mystery.
We’ve visited IFH before, but after this, I think we’re done. I like the shop but have always been underwhelmed by the lackluster welcome and service, especially compared to many other Scandinavian gift shops that have warmer employees who at least appear to care about you. Went to Target and bought tissue paper to protect them because they had some distance to travel by land and sea and I did not want them to damage each other. Dalas aren’t cheap and I didn’t want to...

No hello, no can i help you find something--- nothing. We shopped around when we left no goodby, no thank you for stopping by ---- nothing. We were the only customers in the store so its not like they were busy. What has happened to the friendly service they use to have, will not waste my...
Read moreBeautiful shop. Lovely year round but really shines when all dressed up for the holidays. Meticulously curated gifts, homegoods, saunas and novelty decor, not to mention all the treats, and kitchen gadgets from the Nordic and Scandinavian countries. This is by far the best place in the region to get gifts, or just to shop for your own home if you don't want the same old Target items as everyone else. I can't recommend...
