I would never ever recommend staying here. The dishonesty of the owner is astounding. While I do not blame them for the fact that the booking agency failed to put in the notes that we were traveling with my full needs disabled adult daughter and would need two beds in a downstairs room, I do fully find the response we received from them afterwards completely dishonest and just plain unethical. The owner showed me the room, which was downstairs with one full bed. I explained there were three of us and my adult daughter was in a wheelchair and we had said all of this when we made the reservation. He offered to remove the table and put a camping cot or a twin size air mattress that they owned in the room. I said that would not work. At 5:19 pm as I was calling other motels while Ron called the booking agency, the owner of Lakeshore Lakeshor Motor Inn said he would not charge us for the room but did ask that we request the booking agency cancel as quickly as possible. I told him we were on the phone trying to reach an actual live person and would do so as soon as we were able to speak to a person. It actually took almost four hours of calling and pushing options to get customer service on phone. We were told we would be reimbursed. The owner of Lakeshor Motor Inn told the booking agency that since he did not receive a cancellation from them by 5:30 pm he had to charge us both nights of our reservation, even tho at 5:19 pm he knew we were attempting to reach them on the phone and even stood there and told both of us he would not charge us. In spite of several attempts to call and speak with him or receive a return phone call, he has ignored us. I sincerely hope that his dishonest ethics and treatment of what would have been a future return customer and high recommendations cause him to experience karma as he has no compassion whatsoever of a tired parent traveling with a full needs disabled person who needed rest and not some air...

With my experience, and my co workers' the Owners or their family enters the room without authorization and admitted to it upon questioning. In some rooms there are no "Do Not Disturb" placards. They "welcome" dogs depending on their opinion of the Owner of the dog. They further discriminate, when a dog must be kept with an owner when the owner is not there. They place the person making the reservation in a high traffic area unless you are a friend, family member, or fit a type Adam prefers. They further post, Dogs are Welcome, on their Website, on the phone before reservations are made, and upon checking in--but change the rules after the fact. When inquiring about their failure to properly publish rules regarding dogs, I was yelled at, demeaned, told I was not sorry for apologizing for any misunderstandings regarding dogs, discriminated against, and the Owner, Adam, refused to listen to feeling unwelcome and advised his Wife (Owner) to walk away from an inquiry on why they are opening doors, and entering rooms without authorization. If you are a "particular" type of individual you will be welcomed and not placed in a high traffic area next to a camera hey are advising they watch, record, and repeat your moves back to you upon returning from work. If they fancy, they will intentionally place you next to the office with an "adjoining" door, they may enter without being on camera. DO NOT RESERVE HERE IF PRIVACY AND DOGS BEING WELCOME...

The gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful. We reserved our rooms ahead of time without paying and paid when we got here. The check in process went smoothly. Although the hotel does appear to be older, it has had recent updates. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There were chairs on the balcony to relax in. TV, refrigerator, and freezer worked well. There was even bottled water and snacks in a sweet little basket that were complimentary. It was a nice touch that our kids loved! Lots of beautiful walking trails through nature, lakes, and parks nearby... even a dock that goes over a lake with pretty clear water. You can just look down and see the fish! Grocery store within walking distance. The only negative thing I can think of is the air conditioning didn't keep the room as cool as expected. We added a box fan, and we were good to go. We will stay here again when...

I have been a regular guest at the Lakeshor Motor Inn for many years now. I've always been happy with my stay. I travel for work and this motel is my "Go To" when I'm working up on the iron range. I will stay there even if my job site is 30 minutes away. It is family owned and it's obvious that they want to give the best value they can without having to charge an arm and a leg for the room. There are much more expensive hotels in Virginia. However, I'm just looking for a clean, comfortable room with a decent shower. They always have free water and snacks in the room. They realy seem to care. If you want lots of frills and expensive ammenities, then book your room based on that, but if you want simple, clean basics, book here.

The good: Family owned, Friendly, Crisp clean bedding, Comfortable bed, At a lake with a good walking trail, Neutral smelling, Satellite TV, Tub doesn't have the painful non-slip surface, The bad: Could be cleaner, Outdated, Hard pillows, Ran out of hot water, No coffee cups and clumpy sugars, Lot of activity in the parking lot(mostly fisherman) causing some noise and creating a feeling that there's a lack of privacy
