Hark! Let it be known that Lidl of Wake Forest is a market most bounteous, whereupon the weary traveler and the steadfast villager alike may find their larders well-stocked and their purses spared undue grief. Lo, the fruits be freshest, as though kissed by the dawn’s first light; the meats be succulent, as though the very gods of Olympus had seasoned them; and the bread, oh! the bread doth crackle ‘neath thy touch, warm and golden as the fields of Elysium.
The aisles be wide, as fair meadows where the shopper may roam unburdened, and the wares doth stand in splendid array, awaiting the grasp of discerning hands. The keepers of this fine establishment—nay, these noble stewards of commerce—do serve with mirth and diligence, their smiles like the sun piercing through the clouds of weary toil. And lo! The prices, as gentle as a summer’s breeze, whisper sweet mercy unto the common purse.
Yet, dear reader, let us pause and draw forth a wisdom most curious from a source unexpected. Doth not Shrek, the verdant lord of the swamp, teach us that layers reside within all things? Just as an onion doth bear its many veils, so too doth Lidl reveal its treasures not at first glance, but with patient exploration. Aye, judge not a store by its humble facade, for within lies greatness untold!
Thus, let it be decreed: if thou seeketh sustenance both fair and frugal, Lidl in Wake Forest is a realm of wonder most divine. And remember, as Shrek himself doth declare—beauty, value, and truth oft lie beneath the surface, awaiting only those wise enough to seek them.
Verily, five stars upon...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Lidls. The first was exploratory to familiarize myself with the products, prices and lay out of the store. I was impressed by their fruit and vegetable selection as well as the quality and freshness. The deli is ok, but not to the level of Lowe's or Harris Teeter. There were more home goods and clothing than I expected. I don't think it's a good use of space given they could use those areas for more food selections. The store I went to had poor lighting in the rear area relative to areas up front. This area is more cluttered and items such as shoes and clothing are not presented neatly. It reminded me of an old 5 & dime store. I don't tend to mix grocery shopping with hardware or clothing purchases. If Lidl concentrated on food products exclusively I would be more likely to shop there, however I find that Aldis has the same quality, better pricing, but lags behind Lidls organic products which are great and also priced better than most stores. Other than having a rude cashier at 9:05pm who told me, basically, that he had been waiting for me for a few minutes and was ready to go, I was satisfied. I did have to summon a manager because of continued rudeness and poor customer skills of the cashier. I will give them another shot at "earning"...
Read moreThe ingress, egress of the Wake Forest store is beyond belief. The 7 cent charge on the grocery bag is an insult.I guess the intention is to look like they care about the environment. That cost could SO easily be incorporated in the over all cost. The main problem I have with Lidl and it's identical cousin, Aldi, is learning a foreign brand selection. On my first visit to Lidl, I saw a bag of potatoes for a very reasonable price and wondered WHERE the potatoes actually came from. I looked at the bag, but it only gave L&M "Farms" as the source. I Googled "L&M Farms" and learned it is a vegetable 'broker' in an office building in Raleigh. Still no clue as to WHERE the potatoes were grown, which if I have a choice I'll go with Idaho over China. So no potatoes. The only other thing I don't like is the lack of variety. I was going to buy canned chili. One brand. Same with mustard. Same with jam. If you don't like an ingredient in the one item, I guess it's tough luck. I guess I could learn what exactly is a good deal at Lidl and purchase just those items and purchase the other items I am familiar with at Food Lion or Harris Teeter, but gee whiz, that is a...
