The food here is delicious, if you can manage to actually receive all of it. I have ordered from this restaurant twice, and both times I have left without all of the food I ordered and paid for. The first time, they left out the rice. While I'd usually just make some at home, I was traveling and ordering food because I wasn't able to cook. I'd also called ahead and clarified whether the entrees came with rice and was told they did. So I drove the 20 minutes each way to get my rice so I could eat my now-cold food. But mistakes happen, and it was only rice, and the food tasted lovely. So when I was back in town, I ordered here again. I arrived at the restaurant at the time estimated in the confirmation email, and my food wasn't ready. That's fine, but no revised estimate was given which lead me to assume it would be a momentary delay. Perhaps this level of trust in the process is my fault. However, I then waited 20 minutes in the restaurant with the staff pretending they didn't see me. When I followed up on my order, multiple staff members acted baffled there was an issue, and no action was taken to follow up on the matter until I said I had to leave and to cancel the order. Someone finally went and investigated and apparently the order didn't print to the kitchen. Technical issues happen, and I understand that, but the reaction and service were extremely poor. They insisted the food would be ready in 10 minutes, but my ride was already (understandably) tired of waiting. I reiterated that I wanted the order cancelled because I didn't have time to wait. The manager began trying to negotiate with me that everything was ready except for a single item, it would only be 5-10 minutes. I again repeated that I was not waiting any longer and wanted to cancel for a refund. Eventually they gave in and cancelled the missing item that was taking the longest to prepare, but the receipt showing the return didn't appear to reflect a revised total. This was not a smooth or pleasant experience, especially since it was treated as if I were being unreasonable for expecting to get my food in a reasonable time. It's very possible that the experience is flawless when dining in-person, but I'll...
Read moreMy wife and I traveled to the Wake Forest area over the Christmas season to visit family. The challenge was to find a restaurant for our Christmas meal, and my wife identified Lazeez as a good option. Having few Indian cuisine options in our town of residence, we are always looking for a good Indian dining experience. For this, Lazeez fits the bill. After securing a parking spot in a crowded lot, we opened the door to Lazeez and was instantly welcomed by delicious, spicy smells wafting from the kitchen. We immediately realized a good meal was waiting for us. The restaurant is small and creates an intimate dining atmosphere. The menu provides many options, both vegetarian and non vegetarian. The bar menu is brief yet adequate. The Indian cuisine offered hails from Punjab with the sauces described in the menu as "gravy." After enjoying my meal, "gravy" is a more appropriate term! For appetizers we went vegetarian with Mix Pekora and Samosa Chaat. The Main Course section of the menu offers a list of protein selections on one side with a selection of gravy on the other side. These meals are accompanied by basmati rice. We selected Chicken Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. My wife opted for medium heat for the Curry while I selected hot spicy for the Vindaloo. An Indian hot option is also available, but the hot option was excellent - good heat that enhanced the dish. This is a must try restaurant if you are interested in authentic Indian cuisine and a solid menu. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.
We returned on a Sunday evening to try the buffet, offered for lunch and dinner. We were not disappointed and enjoyed offerings we would not normally have selected from a menu. Paneer masala and chicken malabra curry were excellent. Just the correct amount of velvety smoothness complemented by a...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews but was disappointed with my recent first visit to this restaurant. First, the gratuity was automatically added to the bill — which I understand is standard for parties of four or more as mentioned in their menu, but I was surprised to see that they counted my 2-year-old as a full person to justify it. That felt unnecessarily petty.
We ordered the malai chaap after specifically asking if it was the Delhi-style version. The staff assured us that it was. However, when it arrived, there was nothing remotely Delhi or North Indian about it — the flavor, preparation, and texture were all completely off. When we mentioned this to the waiter — the same person who had assured us earlier — he simply said it was "Americanized." That kind of contradiction is frustrating and misleading.
Another issue was being charged $3 for a few slices of raw onion, maybe half onion labeled as “onion salad” in the bill. This wasn’t listed anywhere on the menu, and I’ve never been charged for something so basic at any other restaurant. If there’s going to be an extra charge — it should be made clear upfront. For context, their menu lists a full garden salad for $5, so this felt completely unreasonable.
I also ordered the kulfi, priced at $7. For that price, I expected a decent portion and authentic taste. Instead, the serving was tiny, and the flavor didn’t deliver.
It’s not about the money — it’s about the principle. The entire experience gave the impression that the restaurant is more interested in squeezing every possible charge out of customers than in providing honest value or a satisfying meal. I won’t...
