Extra Space Storage — Local services in Walnut

If I could give 0 stars I would. My parents passed away last year and I no longer needed to be in a big house that made me sad so I decided to put everything in storage and travel while I figured out where I want to live. I had just moved my stuff in only there for a month, and one night I was a few minutes late getting out because I couldn't find my lock. My gate code didn't work and while I was figuring out what to do, a guy walked by and said I would need to call the police to get out and then he disappeared. I thought he worked there or was stuck too.. I called customer service who gave me a temp code for the gate which I used to exit. Next day manager calls and terminates my contract, gives me 10 days to move, and suspends my access. She said I could only move out during office hours and if I wasn't out by the deadline I would be subject to "holdover rent" which is 2x the rent on my contract. Reason being is that 9 units were robbed while I was stuck at the facility and apparently I was on camera talking to the thief. I tried to reason with her over the phone and in person but she wouldn't listen and just walked away while I'm talking to her. I had to move all my stuff from a 3br house all over again when I didn't even have access evenings and weekends. It made my life hell and I had 2x the moving expenses, had to take additional time off work, injured myself scrambling to get my stuff out, and was completely exhausted. I have called the main customer service number to discuss. A district manager was supposed to call but no one ever did. The whole experience has been awful and I would never recommend cubesmart to anyone...

⚠️🚨 New potential customers do not rent here. My storage was broken into. I became a new customer almost 2 years ago. I thought it was a safe secured area. I was wrong. I moved my things here on 10/2021. I went back to get my 75 tv in Jan 2022 . I locked up my unit and left. I went back 2 months ago and the first thing I noticed was the door had some scratchs by the locks (I had 2 locks) as I open the door I saw a mess. BOXES opened and ripped and all my high price items stolen 🤬. Who knows when the break in took place. I was paying auto pay $120 monthly not knowing half my belongings were gone. I don't trust the employees. They said they do daily walk ins, yet they failed to see the scratch on my door and the lock hadge tampered with. Its hard not to think if it was an inside job. If you decide to ignore this warning, I recommend you get high compensation insurance plan and check your storage unit regularly. The insurance reimbursement I received is not nearly enough to cover everything they took from me. I wasn't told by the old manager the different insurance plan options, then again I thought this facility was safe. I hoped to also getting some of the monthly payment money back, its been 2 months of waiting. The manager said they have a new general manager and shell send the photos etc.... in reality they dont care. They allow break ins and blame it on other tenants. They have their camera system however they say they are still looking. At this point it doesn't matter. All my items are gone. Theirs no point to continue to feel upset. I want people to know my horrible experience and avoid it happening to you.

STAY AWAY FROM...

I reserved a storage online and received a call from Natalie within hours. I met with her the next morning, and everything was smooth and easy. She and a younger gentleman showed us the spot, we signed paperwork with their friendly and detail instruction. You can tell that they are very dedicated to their work and they also have very good altitude and it helps because this is my first time rental a storage. The Cubesmart pricing is also very good comparing to Public Storage, but I was told that the rent will go up few months later, hopefully, it would not be that much. Jenna, the manager was also very helpful and these folks do keep their place very secure. I received an email alert from them because when they were driving around, checking out the locks...they found that I had not locked my place probably so I returned the next day and secured the unit thanks to their diligent security work. Overall, the place is very clean, reasonably priced and you can expect great services...
