The staff were nice, however:
I only went there for a consult, and I felt like they were trying to rush me and up-sell me their services. I am an adult who is seeking orthodontia, but I sort of felt like they were trying to talk to me like I was one of their pediatric clients who couldn't make their own decisions. I had to be firm with the orthodontist's assistant, basically stating that this is MY insurance and that I was there for information and information ONLY.
I also felt awkward because I only saw the assistant, and not the orthodontist. Which leads me to my next complaint: professionalism and scope of practice. During the consult, the assistant randomly said "you may need jaw surgery" without even consulting the orthodontist first. I understand that she may have a lot of experience, but it was totally out of the assistant's scope of practice to say, "you need jaw surgery". I was also confused and afraid because I'm 24 years old and have never been told that there was anything wrong with my jaw. Also, I was a vet tech for 3 years, and I would've been in trouble for saying things like that without consulting the veterinarian first.
When the assistant DID consult the orthodontist (who I guess couldn't be bothered to talk to me personally), she came back and said "you don't need surgery, but possibly a tooth extraction". Now, here's the kicker. They were unable to perform my X-Rays at the Lititz location because apparently I need a special type that they only have at Fruitville and Landisville. I was even more confused when the assistant mentioned a tooth extraction, so I asked, "How did we go from needing jaw surgery to now a tooth extraction?" The assistant replied, "Well, we'll have to see what your X-Rays look like first."
I don't appreciate them just throwing in scenarios when they haven't even done all the diagnostics yet. As I mentioned earlier, I felt confused and thrown in a loop. I feel like things would have gone MUCH better if I had met the orthodontist in person. Seriously. What doctor doesn't sit down and talk to their clients face to face?
In conclusion, the practice in general is nice, but they need to act within their scope of practice and respect a...
Read morePart of the reason I chose LOA for my Invisalign braces is because it came with a "lifetime retainer replacement guarantee." So I would receive free retainers anytime mine broke/became worn out for the rest of my life. Well, LOA recently decided that program was too expensive and decided to cancel the program, even for patients who purchased Invisalign braces under that program. It is now $680 to be enrolled in a 10 year retainer replacement program, which still requires you to spend another $50 each time you need a new pair of retainers.
I understand that the economy is in bad shape and everything is more expensive now, but it is still a bad business practice to sell someone a product under the guise of coming with a program, and then ripping away that program when it suddenly isn't as profitable. That's like if I bought a car that came with a five year warranty, and then a year later the car dealer told me that they're no longer honoring the warranty because it's too expensive. I've already spoken to an LOA representative about this, and they said they'll grandfather me into the 10 year retainer program, but I still need to pay $50 for each new set, and then I have to pay another $680 in 10 years to renew the 10 year program. I bought the Invisaligns under the free lifetime guarantee, I should still have the lifetime guarantee.
Due to all of this, I lost trust in LOA as a business and I would not recommend them to anyone moving forward. They will not actually honor the programs they offer, including the ones your Invisaligns come with at the time...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting that they sell you free retainers for life and then decide to just change it after your treatment. This was one of the reasons we chose LOA and now they said “since it isn’t in contract we don’t have to uphold that” … Have some integrity. Please go somewhere else or make sure EVERYTHING is written in your contract. What a swindling group. Free retainers for life is NOT the same as 10 years of $50 replacements.
Additionally, they took off my sons braces and didn’t make his retainer right away because his gums were a little puffy and his teeth moved by the time they took his scans then tried to make it seem like he wasn’t wearing his retainer (which he absolutely was) and his teeth did not look right. They did agree to do some invisalign trays to get them back in place after hassling my son did something that was...
