Lingle's Neighborhood Market — Local services in Watsontown

Not my post but a post of someone I know!!

For those that who shop at Lingle's store in Watsontown, there is apparently a a new rule about lunch meat. "You either take it the way they preslice it or you don't get it at all." Went in and ask for a certain type of ham chipped. And instead I get A sweet reply saying that is chipped, pointing to the meat already sliced in the deli counter. Quite obviously was not chipped and I replied no, that's not chipped that sliced. I have gotten it here many times before, with no issue. But by the look on her face, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't going to do any different. Wasn't busy and another hr before closing, but my guess is slicer was already cleaned up and she didn't want to make it dirty. Which I would have respected if that's the answer I would have gotten instead of an argument over whether obviously sliced meat was chipped or not. Jeesh..left without it, and most of the weekly groceries I would have...

OMG! The meat dept. is the bomb. The same as you'd get from a butcher shop. Everything is neatly trimmed and fresh at competitive pricing. The produce and deli depts. are quite quite nice as well (check out the riverboat hoagie they offer in the deli). Frozen and dairy are typical, nothing special but if you need it they'll have it. The staff is usually friendly. Having said that I have to admit on my last visit there were 3 people standing by the chicken/pork case talking and blocking half of it (I was hoping to find some of those delicious pork riblets). None of them acknowledged me or offered to move so I could see that half. So I did the rest of my shopping hoping to be able to try again. Selection was great. The service behind the counter for the deli 🤬 just a strait see you next Tuesday that lady from the tales from the crypt was something to compare to dealing with a McDonald’s employee no customer service skills if you want you’re meat cut thin ask for the opposite she does this on purpose and let’s you know I had to walk away and let my wife order because I couldn’t deal with it. The one place in that town I will never stop again and will be sure no one that visits the cabin will either!!! We will go to Lewis burg for groceries.
