We have been so excited looking forward to this game store opening in Waunakee. We were able to come by for a few of their special nights, including Pokémon, bring your own board game night, and magic the gathering. One of the things I have been most impressed with is the welcoming atmosphere. We have younger kids, and while we very much enjoy board games, we are beginners with some of the more complex games. But the staff has been so incredibly welcoming that we do not feel intimidated. We have been in other game stores before that have been a bit intimidating for kids, families, and less experienced players, kind of like a gym where everyone is already buff and you are just starting to learn how to work out… it can be a little bit intimidating. Game Haven on the other hand has been just the opposite. Even though we are beginners, they have been so welcoming, and the staff even sat down and taught my nine-year-old son the basics of Magic the gathering, their employee Tanner played a game where my son could not only learn, but boosted his confidence with cards that made the game super fun!
The selection of games they have to offer is excellent, spans a broad range of interests and ages, and includes games that features local artists, locally made games, etc… We have been so incredibly impressed, we will definitely be back, and feel that they are a fantastic addition to not just Waunakee, but the entire area. Thank...

I just stopped in today for a warhammer mini and to finally see the inside of this shop. This place has so much potential.
They have a really fun local creator space for people to sell gaming related homemade products, (i picked up a desk dragon, love the lil guy) and nothing beats a $1 d20, you pick it out of the box, and it's just too cheap to not grab one you like.
They also have a real solid gaming space in the back with tables and plenty of space for deckbuilders, tabletop role-playing, or tabletop wargaming.
As of now, their selection is admittedly a little limited, but I'm sure that will change over time as more and more folks check them out. You can also order in games from them, giving a local shop your business and saving a bit of cash not needing to pay for shipping or markups.
Seriously. I want this place to succeed, and I really think their location is a perfect spot for folks who love games in Waunakee and Middleton. Give em a shout, and tell them Zara with the shiny dragon...
Read moreI've been here a few times, honestly, I've got mixed feelings about the store. I feel like I've had great service and I've had mediocre to bad service, based on staff wanting to get back to the gaming area to observe MtG or other things. Another thing is the selection, compared to other stores like I'm Board, the selection just isn't there - more games, more options, and I think this would be a real winner. A shining spot was the game days at the local elementary school, my daughter is a big fan. Unfortunately when we went in after to find one of the games, that's when we got the bad service, the game was unavailable and there wasn't much more in lines of options after, so we...
