Summerset Marine Construction - Madison (Formerly D.L. Anderson Co.) — Local services in Waunakee

We were big fans of the prior firm (DL Anderson). We bought everything from them (pier pleasure dock, a pontoon lift, 2 jet ski lifts and canopies for all three, all since we moved to our lake house in 2019). They were fantastic; responsive, honest- we loved working with them.

Fast forward to 2024, when DL Anderson was purchased by Summerset. This year things were very different. In addition to jacking up prices significantly, our boat lift wasn't delivered until late May (the old firm had everything wrapped up by late April). Worse, as of July 4th weekend we were still waiting for our seasonal installation (canopies) to be completed. There were no apologies given, nor any indication that anything was out of the ordinary. I guess this is the new standard of service under new ownership.

I know the prior employees will do their best (assuming they stuck around after the change in ownership...my suspicion is that most of the prior employees quit), in what must be a challenging transition to new owners. We spent a large sum of money on a new dock 2 years ago from D.L. Anderson. Due to high waters this year the setup they constructed at the shoreline is broken. We called to have them come look at it and were told by the owner Travis they would not help us due to us choosing a competitor for putting in our boat lift (which has nothing to do with our dock). He was rude and condescending. I would not recommend working with them as they will not stand behind or follow up with maintenance on their previous work in the future. Also, the reasons we did work with the competitor earlier in season was due to a large price difference (they greatly raised their prices when they changed ownership) as well as them not responding to our inquiries. We've had a great experience with D.L. Anderson (now Summerset Marine construction! For the past several years they have helped us put in and take out our pier each year. They are very efficient and anticipate when it needs to go in and come out every year.

This year we were in the market for a new pier, and we worked with Ed at Summerset Marine. He was very helpful in sharing information about their various products and configurations. Ed, Travis, and the team exceeded our expectations by getting our new pier installed before our boat lift goes in so we can start using it for the 2024 boating season! They even hauled our old pier away, so we didn't have to deal with it.
