Willows Tavern — Restaurant in Wisconsin

Highly disappointed in this place. I went there because they have a pool table. And I walked in and the bartender was not pleased to see me he was definitely disgruntled about his job or his life or something. Which is not a greeting that you want when you're coming into a bar from out of town. And then they change shifts and some girl was serving me. Then I ordered a shot of Patron and a shot of pickle juice. And they gave me some off the brand pickle juice which sucked. But I drank it anyway and I asked that for a new pickle juice and they came up with something else which was great thank you. But then the girl that was on duty decided she was going to give me shot in a 4 oz glass and didn't fill it too the half mark. And then I noticed that was not a full shot. So I said something but nobody paid attention. And then the guy bartender gave us a shot and he filled the shot glass and he filled the glass up and it was half full. And I knew that she'd been shorting me in shots. So be careful when you go there because they will short you...

Bad drinks and seems a bit run down.

This place is a decent size and has some good things going for it. They have poker tournaments ever Wednesday and have a good spot for live music. The bar can accommodate a large crowd.

A round of drink for about 6 people ended up costing $3 a drink.

The mixed drinks however tasted like soda and when confronted the staff said "it's a 1.5 oz pour." Unless you're downtown Madison you'll normally see bars pour more than that. This is not the case at the Willows.

They have weird specials too. Making a 12oz beer of something I wanted to drink more expensive than a 16oz of something I didn't really care for.

They have two pool tables that aren't in good shape and all their cue sticks are recked. They occasionally have $1 pool and sometimes open the tables up.

They also have a baseball diamond out back.

Overall not a great bar unless you're going for poker...

I stopped by on a quiet Tuesday night looking for a quick drink and some conversation.

There were 3 cars in the lot, and I was not disappointed.

I only had enough cash for 1 drink, so Vanessa made me a wonderful Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour, and I enjoyed a very friendly evening with everybody.

It's a wonderful local establishment with a long history and deep roots.

I will make sure to be back to get a burger and update my review!
