Should really be no stars. Avoid this place at all costs! Sold me a car that had head gasket, timing belt, water pump changed. 7 months and 5000 miles later head gasket is bad. Now they want me to pay $1200 to replace it. They will sweet talk you saying they stand behind their vehicles. They do NOT!!! Buy a Subaru somewhere else where they actually stand behind the work they do!!! Just a follow up to my review. I did get the vehicle repaired by a local mechanic. As soon as it was placed on the lift he noticed the exhaust gasket was not replaced but silicon was used to seal the exhaust. Next when he took the motor apart he noticed how there were 3 different dates marked on the block, heads, and valve cover. Marked 12/16,1/17,and 2/17. 3 months to put a motor back together??? He checked for warpage. Acceptable warpage is 0.0015". The side that had the bad head gasket was at 0.0045" and the other side at 0.003". He also said the one head was not torqued down correctly plus there were numbers marked on the bolts showing the torque pattern but only on one side? He did say that the gaskets used are a good quality gasket but they do come with a one year warranty from the manufacturer. So were they going to double dip and charge me the low price of $1200 then charge the manufacturer another $1200 for replacing??? I also called the warranty company to ask why I was never sent a renewal notice. The reply I got from them was there is no renewal available on warranties. So we're they going to pocket the money and hope nothing happened for the next 6 months? Back to the original phone call. In reply to EB(why is your name not displayed?) I did not bully Mary Lou, I was a disappointed customer who was speaking to the owner of a business who was not standing behind the work they performed. I guess she forgot to mention how I actually gave her a compliment on her son. As for my son driving the car. The car was driven approx 5000 miles in 7 months so yes with a slow leaking head gasket it would take that long to drop the antifreeze low enough to spike the temp gage. And one other thing, Mary Lou mentioned on the phone wondering if something possibly went wrong with the thermostat. The mechanic discovered that the incorrect thermostat was installed on the car. Besides that the belts and hoses were not replaced during the $2200 engine service. Maybe the mechanic or mechanics had a bad day, week, or month. So buyers beware!!! Merry...
Read moreLet me begin by saying.. How super grateful I am to have been blessed with the opportunity to cross paths with one of the greatest, most kind, and professional dealerships/ mechanics and owners of Deer Lake Auto!! I got screwed over by the person whom I bought my 2002 Subaru Forester off of. And after NO mechanic would do the job. Deer Lake Auto never told me NO!! I got welcomed with open arms. Not only did DJ the mechanic stay in contact with me. He literally fixed everything that was wrong with it. And even found other things that the previous owner did and fixed it!! Helped me out with the price (and they didn't have to)!!! The owners wife at the front desk. Absolutely the most nicest lady and owner I have ever met. Please if you own a Subaru!! That's the place to go! They fix and also sell amazing, great subis!! Ty so much to everyone at deer lake for everything you've done for me and my family 🙏❤️ Ty! I highly recommend them to everyone and anyone. I will definitely be purchasing my next Subaru off of them really soon!! One...
Read moreI am a Deer Lake Subaru customer for 24 years - serviced five autos and just purchased #6 from them. All my cars have run in excess of 150K, 200K & 300,000 miles and I have recommend their service to many other Subaru owners - with great results.
They provide quality work at affordable cost - much less than the dealer shops - with professionalism. If ever an issue (rare at that) - they "made right" and corrected the problem. In the rare instance a repair was beyond their capability - they did send me to the dealer...
