I am by far disappointed & upset. I sent my son here to prepare him for a career or some job training experience. My son is different than others because he learns different. When I enrolled him I was by far very proud of him because he has A.D.H.D & due to the strict rules I made a poor decision. Everyone I met seemed very nice & professional until my son started getting bullied. He told Security the day the bullying began & they didn't call me. Her excuse was I thought they got along. Another student tried to take advantage of my son for not knowing better. My son was beat up on campus & when my son called me to tell me he was hit in the face by the other student one of the staff grabbed his phone & ststed(he was allegedly hit) Then he said your son is requesting medical attention. When I picked up my son he had bruises on his face. I said he wasn't allegedly hit he was hit. They said the other student said he didn't touch him. When I got there they put the other student in a staff members car & he signed him out there & took him home. No one called the police or a ambulance when he requested medical attention. I took my son to the emergency room which he had multiple bruises & a broken nose. I'm sorry NOT sorry but I am his voice. After I got discharge papers I went back to the facility & called the police & the police couldn't make a arrest because they let that boy go home. They told the police they couldn't give any information about the other student due to privacy policy & we had to wait until Monday. I am by far disappointed. I will say this based on how I was treated & my son was treated & racial slurs against my son were made by the other student & the staff got him out of there & fast with no police called hhhhmmmmm I'll let that speak for itself. I really put my son in here with good intentions & really hoped for the best but this right here is by far the worst & they didn't follow protocol because I was told by staff that there was 2 sides to the story when clearly one student had marks on his face & injury & the other student not a mark on him. This is beyond sad that I will never trust anyone ever again with my son ever again. If your child has a moderate disability this is definitely not a safe place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI gave them a honest try back in Summer 2009 when I signed up, went to Paul Simon because I lived on the East Side of Chicago and my mom would pick me up or bring me stuff on the weekends no fuss. I had just turned 21 when I started there. It was fun for me, while I was enrolled they sent me on an 6-week internship to Washington DC with the Department of Labor at their HQ. Total fun in my book. They had me staying at the Potomac campus. DC was great, even had fun in Maryland all at their expense!
I got sick so I couldnāt complete the CST program but I did get my GED through them, so that was cool and I met so many interesting people from all over the country. Never noticed bed bugs or mice per the other reviews but the gang and sexual activity I did see for sure. Itās a mixed bag going there, I do believe that in order to make it through whatever program you signed up for, you MUST avoid getting too personal with other students and staff, and study your chosen field religiously. I wasnāt super popular but was liked by most of the people I met there.
One of my sisters went to their Greenwood, Indiana campus a few years later, she actually completed the program. I also have a cousin who did the same at another location, so you can make it if you put in the work!
All of the negative folks need to stop bashing the place. They donāt have to take you in, and can kick you out just as fast as they do. It gave me the confidence to go anywhere and work with anyone, cross...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm currently enrolled in Paul Simon Job Corps and it's a horrible campus. The school itself is a good program but the dorms and campus are the complete opposite. The South dorms which is for girls are infested with mice. You will have to fill the holes yourself with your own socks and what not. There's mice droppings in your beds, on your blankets, pillows, and clothes. The North dorms are for boys and has ants. While the West dorms which is both male and females is infested with bed bugs. The staff know about these issues but do nothing about it. If one person in your room doesn't clean or get in trouble, then you would have to pay the price, too. The guys just want to get in your parents and the girls just want to start rumors and drama. You will need to provide your own hand soap and a lot of other supplies, too. The RA's and other staff members are completely rude to you even when you do nothing wrong. The food is awful, dog food would taste better than what they serve you. Word of advice, if you plan to go here don't be residential. You'll be very disappointed...
