Wife and I have gone here before for their freezer packs. Never had any trouble with them prior to today. We order a freezer pack and included was ten pounds of ground sirloin and ten pounds of country ribs. I picked up the order and after checking the order at home it was only the chicken. A phone call later and they found the second box. Here is the strange part. I return to the store to pick up the beef part of the order. The employee exits and shows me a box of ground sirloin. I asked about the ribs and he grabs several packs from the case right where we were standing. He goes into the back and repackages all of them without the weight stickers. At this point I leave and go home and weigh the ribs. There were seven packs of ribs all were slightly over one pound. Packaging and all the weight registered in at nine pounds. It appears that what the advertisement should say is around ten pounds of ribs. This was a truly disappointing experience. I have never had an issue before with Colonial and they always seem so appreciative for the business. I had boasted about their service to family members who had also order freezer packs due to my remarks. Well, after today’s experience orders were cancelled. The employee also didn’t seem very concerned with the issue. The attitude appeared more annoyed than apologetic. As a matter of fact there wasn’t any apology. It was essentially an annoyance. Then the act of re-wrapping the ribs made me suspicious. What was the point of doing that when they were already packaged up. Very...
Read moreI just wanted to comment on how wrong the first man's comment was. I have been a customer for 12 years and have never...ever..had a bad piece of meat from this old fashion butcher shop. Think about the way this country has changed the way we buy meat and poultry. We get it from huge supermarkets. No one helps you find the right meat for a slow cooker Pot Roast. We..like lambs to slaughter...we just pick up some piece of meat or poultry that is wrapped in cellophane with a price on it. Butchers are a dying breed and we need to cherish the few that are left. If you want a great 1 inch Porterhouse steak you are out of luck..the markets cut the steaks the way they want..not the way we want. I think the Colonial Market is a great little shop to not only get your meat the way you want it. but also for fresh cold cuts, homemade dinners and more. When was the last time you saw a fresh trimmed Prime Rib roast in a...
Read moreHighly recommend this place! Love it! Meats are as fresh as you can get. Love the ready made meals you just heat up too! The meats and poultry are awesome! The Tomato Pie they sell is Amazing! Couple cons: General groceries are pricey. The front produce section is not great. Although prices on it are great, the packaging and location for storage is not. All in plastic bags which causes condensation and mold...= no thank you. The bananas are next to onions and the onions next to potatoes...which are not supposed to be stored next to one another. They ripen and rot faster due to chemicals they give off. I know it's a small place, but they could better organize and put things in paper bags vs plastic. Better for the environment and better storage. Aside from this, it is a meat market and awesome at that!!! The deli is great too!! The people are super friendly...
