Classic diner atmosphere and menu. Their New England Clam Chowder was delicious but could have been a bit less thick. My cup of soup was nice and hot. My son’s was not real hot although that was preferable for him.
I ordered the fried haddock. The tartar sauce was delicious. It came with one side. I ordered fries which were perfectly cooked and fresh. I also ordered broccoli, which was fresh and not overcooked.
My son ordered an omelette which he enjoyed. The homefries looked great. My friend got the turkey senior special. I believe she got stewed tomatoes and another side instead of soup or salad. She enjoyed her meal. It came with a dessert which she took to go. Somehow her rice pudding got left in my car so I had it for breakfast. It had good flavor but was a bit too sweet. Raisin haters will like it.
The service was friendly and attentive. The best part is that we felt the prices were very reasonable compared to where we normally go - the Brandywine Diner. I believe next summer we will be splitting our time between the two places.
My biggest complaint about all restaurants in general is how hard it is to get anything besides eggs, pork chops, steak, broiled seafood, and salad when you are gluten sensitive. I’m tired of such few choices. Most are too expensive.
I took a risk with the fish. As a result I have a little neuropathy in my toes from eating it. :-( Being allergic to wheat sucks but at least I don’t go into anaphylactic shock.
The Ram Diner does not make their burgers fresh or I would have had one of those in a lettuce wrap. I’ve recently started to do that to give myself more choices but I’m not a fan of frozen burgers. They always seem to have that freezer taste.
How hard would it be to make fresh burgers? offer more gluten free choices? Use gluten free breadcrumbs? I know the fryer is the same but at least it would be a little less wheat for my body to deal with.
Restaurants could thicken their soups with cornstarch. Gluten free bread could be kept in the freezer for sandwiches.
Eating out is always the same darn thing. Salads salads and more salads. I’m sick of...
Read moreThe starter is so nice. It’s very comfortable decorated and purple and yellow, which are the school colors and that’s awesome in support of the college. The food is amazing. It’s fresh. The waitresses are very nice. They work really hard and I’m not a big public restroom person but I have to tell you this a Rams diner is the only woman’s bathroom. I will ever use even though I bring my own toilet seat covers. It is amazingly clean and it smells fresh. I always use the handicap stall because of my knees and my foot but in any of that, it’s always nice. They always have soap and they have a trash can in the handicap stall, which is great And there’s this one waitress who keeps the diner clean I think she even washes the dishes by hand when the machine isn’t working and she takes extra special time to make sure the bathrooms are nice fresh and clean, and I’m a stickler for cleanliness. I’m very persnickety that way if it’s not clean, I’m not going in!!!! The bacon is crisp fresh they have the best cranberry juice it’s not too sweet not too tart. It’s just right they have my favorite ginger ale. Seagrams and even the booths are a nice size crunching you up if you have a belly. They have the best Customer Service the waitresses are really nice and they’re always checking on you and the price is reasonable. I come here to wait for my son to get out of class instead of me driving an hour back home just to turn right back around and pick him up and this place is very relaxing and calming and serene. They even have a way for you to pull down the shades if it’s too sunny at your table. TARA Was our server and she’s always so nice. She’s the one that cleans the bathroom and keeps the place looking beautiful and clean. There’s a Wawa and a McDonald’s right next to the diner that I always choose to come to the diner over McDonald’s and Wawa that’s how good they are!!!! this lady...
Read moreThe food is good but the service is not. I went there yesterday when it was not busy, purposely to avoid big crowds during these times of the pandemic. The waitresses and so called Manager all saw me when I walked in but did not say anything. I simply gestured a hello and sat near their area within site view. I was waiting for a while for someone to at least offer coffee and a menu. Instead they kept rolling silverware in the napkins for the tables. Finally they were negotiating amongst them on who gets the next table. I couldn't believe it so I told them it's not about your tips but the customer that should be your main focus as a team. Finally the BIG girl said maybe I should go somewhere. I couldn't believe it and I replied she's absolutely correct. Nevertheless, I recommended that she should practice on her customer service and waiting skills. She then bragged about how she's been doing this kind of work for 23+ years. I wish the owner would have seen this so he can see how professional his employees represent his establishment. Sadly the owner deserves better workers who understand that greeting his customers with decency is priceless and should be happy to have a job during these times. It's a real shame. Lazy workers only these days only know how to look at their stupid smart phones and complain about their wages. Instead of appreciating customers who just wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee and breakfast. By the way, I've been there once before and left an excellent tip. Which is why I returned. NOW, I WILL NEVER stop here again or...
