I hated dealing with Yrma. I mainly scheduled an appointment to get my wedding dress altered there, and happened to bring an engagement outfit along with my dress for the appointment. My fiance also brought in a blazer. For the blazer, the sleeves were too long. Yrma eye balled it and didn’t even take any measurements. She said she would charge $25 to fix the blazer, which was not a problem, but when I came back for it a few days later, the sleeves were way too short for my fiance, and she tried to charge me $30 for it instead of the $25 we were originally told. Because I was picking the blazer up without my fiance there, we had discovered when it was too late that the sleeves were ruined. She should have measured him.
Back to my original appointment. I had excused my fiance so I can try on my dress. This was when things got weird. First of all, Yrma jabbed my stomach with a pin. This made me flinch and she didn’t even apologize. Then she said the bodice of my dress was all wrong and she snipped one of the cups attached to my dress! Why would you do that?? She had so many pins all over my dress and I accidentally cut my thumb. She quickly wiped my thumb with LYSOL WIPES and then put some bandaids on it. She instructed me to lift my breasts up with my hands while in the dress, which I thought was odd. Apparently I didn’t lift them to her liking so she laughed at me. She then said to bring my dress in another time since the wedding was still a few months out.. if this was the case, why did we go through all of this?? You could’ve just told me in the beginning instead of having me try on the dress. She also said earlier she could fix the bodice but then later on said “oh, I didn’t realize this was beading. I thought this was lace”. Another red flag.
I also had my engagement outfit, which she was actually able to work on. So I would be picking up the engagement outfit along with the fiancés blazer. Yrma gave me a ton of days and times for a 2nd fitting and another day for pick up. I confirmed with her the times and she said yes. I put these times on my phone. One of the times was 1:00. So I went there on that scheduled day 5 minutes early. I knocked on the door and she ignored me. I was literally waiting for her to answer for 10 minutes. When she finally did answer, she was all flustered and said my appointment was actually at 2.. like I said earlier, I had confirmed with her earlier and she said that it was at 1.. she then asks me if I want to come in ANOTHER DAY! Why would I do that if I came on the correct day, just at the wrong time?? I also scheduled my work day around this. I said I would just come by in an hour. So I come back at 2, and again, she doesn’t answer until 2:05. She didn’t even greet me, she just sighed and let me in. During our fitting, she was snarky and said “be careful, don’t poke yourself again. Remember, since you hurt your thumb last time?”. Excuse me, WHAT??? She was so unbelievably rude and couldn’t care less about my time! Not to mention that she tried to charge me more for my fiancés blazer that she did such a terrible job on! Dealing with her is easily one of the worst experiences ever, and you definitely get what you pay for with her. It was honestly a blessing in disguise when she told me she wouldn’t work on my wedding dress this early on. I ended up going to another seamstress for my dress, and they didn’t poke me or make me feel uncomfortable. Avoid YandY at all costs!!!! Yrma is inconsiderate (especially of your time), she’s inconsistent of her pricing, she’s snarky, and her work is...
Read moreI can't begin to recommend Y and Y Studio enough! They are amazing! They have come in so clutch 2 different times for me! I took them a pair of baseball pants that were game worn in the MLB. I got them for my son, but the auction I bought them from screwed up and sent the wrong pair. The auction was final and I was unable to exchange them. So I was stuck with these pants that were crazy expensive compared to a normal pair you buy at a sporting goods store. I went to a few other places and asked if they could alter them to be shorter and add an elastic at the calf. They were all very hesitant to even try or quoted me a price that was more than the pants cost. I still can't believe how great of a job Y and Y did with them! I don't know how they did it but they made the pants look as if they were originally designed that way! They were also able to get stains out of my wife's wedding dress that had been in a closet for 20+ years! I would trust them with...
Read moreI got my wedding dress altered and my daughters flower girl dress. They did great on the flower girl dress, fit perfectly. I felt like I was not treated very well here since they had to reschedule 2 times on me when I had to rearrange my schedule to make it to these appts. The last appt Yrma had to sew in the cups for my dress and when I got home I saw that they had missed a side of one and the pin was still in there. After seeing that I looked over all of my dress and the inseam where they had to undo to put in a button for my train to be pinned up, they never sewed the inseam so it was wide open. I called and left them a message of the things they missed and never got any call back. I had to sew those two things myself, even through it’s something no one will be able to see, I just expected them to do a better job at the finite details and not reschedule on brides the way they did with me, very...
