Wet Mountain Treasures — Local services in Westcliffe

Buyer beware! Let me put this into perspective. I have black hair and dark skin. During my purchase at Wet Mountain Treasures 207 Main Street Westcliffe, CO 81252 store, I handed my credit card to the cashier. When I was about to sign the receipt, I glanced at my credit card. The woman said to me, (quote) " Are you looking for the name of the card you stole?". I was so shocked, I just took my ID and placed it on the counter in front of her. If she needs to verify my identity all she has to do is ask for an ID! I have travelled the world and that is the standard. Neither to say, she insulted me, accused me of stealing, disrespected me. Am I not capable of having a credit card because I don't look like her with white skin? Today I am so LIVID with myself, for not responding as I should have. I should have placed all my credit cards on her counter and cancelled the purchase! Lady cashier, remember that people like me are who keep you in business not locals. Keep your racist comments in the trash! I just want you to know lady that you tainted the beautiful impression I had of the Colorado people. Racist people like you, do no good to my local friends...

We live here in town and recently visited this store for the first time. So glad we did. It is a wonderful place with friendly staff as well as a lot of beautiful home decor and gift items. We really enjoyed the assortment of merchandise and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. They have something for everyone! Can't wait...
