My husband and I decided to take an overnight trip to Westcliffe to beat the heat back home and to check on property in the area. We have a small poodle and needed somewhere that was pet friendly and wouldn't mind if we left her for a few while we ate at our favorite haunts that aren't so pet friendly. Our dog is 13, hard of hearing and sleeps pretty much all day so she isn't a barker. Although I was a little hesitant at first about staying there as I knew it was about 45 years old and was worried about how run down it might be, the Westcliffe Inn was perfect to meet our needs and far exceeded what my first thoughts were. Cassie allowed us to check in early as our room was ready, but she wanted to first go check to make sure everything was comfortable and the air on. The pet friendly rooms are towards the back to be by the walking relief areas. While my husband was disappointed that we wouldn't have the mountain view in the morning, I was thankful for the back area to make it easier to walk our dog. While the room we stayed in (113) was simple in decor, it was immaculately clean and smelled wonderful when we entered. The air conditioner may be small but it is mighty and I literally had to shut it off as it was freezing me out. As this was a pet friendly room, there is no carpeting. The flooring was beautiful and comfortable to walk on. I loved that the beds were on platforms reducing the risk of our dog crawling under the bed and getting into anything. The mini refrigerator worked perfectly and is good sized to hold leftover pizza. We never used the microwave. The TV is large and great reception. The wi-fi was a little iffy at times and kept dropping service but would quickly come back up. ||The staff here hustle and are immediately in the rooms to clean when someone checks out. They are so friendly and Cassie was wonderful and so courteous to us. She let us know that although they close at 8pm at front desk, we have her number and she is only 5 minutes away should an emergency situation arise. Thankfully there was never a need for that.||We look forward to our next trip to Westcliffe, hopefully in September, and will definitely stay at the Westcliffe Inn again. We look forward to seeing Cassie and the...

I was in Westcliffe to participate in a trail race nearby and booked a room believing I would get a better night's sleep than if I had camped. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the room I booked did not have airconditioning until I was there. This was critical as I wasn't able to sleep with the room temperature being 77 degrees the entire night. It was 74 when I entered the room and then my body temperature alone raised it by 3 degrees.
The service at the front desk was good. The room was clean and felt much like any other hotel I've stayed in. There was a coffee pot with a package of coffee. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough.
But I hardly slept at all because the room was too hot.
I opened the window for a bit but the adjacent rooms had people coming and going until late, closing car doors, talking, diesel trucks drove by in the parking lot, etc. So, I closed it. Not to mention that I am not really comfortable sleeping with only a screen on the window between me and the people outside, along with the outside lights flooding my room.
There was a fan on top of the television stand that I pointed towards me and turned on 'high' but that became uncomfortable after a while, and didn't really work to cool me down much anyway.
I spent $130 to get a good night's and I didn't. I...
Read moreThey had one tiny bar of soap for the room including the shower. There was no shampoo or conditioner. It was freezing cold outside. The thermostat was locked to not raise above 72°. The office closed at 8pm. It opened at 10am. It was inconvenient to not be able to ask for shampoo or conditioner. The owner and worker I dealt with had zero customer service skills not to mention the all around bad attitudes. The place is overpriced for what they offer. Tops one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Definitely would say buyer beware of this shady establishment. Save the headache and go anywhere else. It looks like their running theme is to reply by saying they have no record of the person giving the bad review staying there. I assure you the place I am reviewing is the Westcliffe Inn and stopping there was an unforseen nightmare on an otherwise...
