Really disappointed to see the lack of understanding surrounding kava. this used to be the only place in the area i could come to for kava sodas, or any type of kava that is not a powdered capsule or dodgy extract. They usually have mitra kava sodas, but they recently switched to the regular mitra kratom sodas (which i do like).
Upon entering the other day i asked the sales person if they still had the kava sodas, and the sales person said āyeah the ones we have are even stronger than the ones we hadā (didnāt even know the difference between kava and kratom off hand).
After I inquired further about the kava, the two associates in the store switched the story to, āthe sodas have have kava and kratom in themā.
Iāve been drinking mitras for some years now so it sounded kind of iffy for them to say that, because to my knowledge, the mitra kratom sodas donāt have kava in them. Welp⦠I grabbed one of those sodas, turned the can right around, and proceeded to educate the sales person the way their employer should have. I showed them that the soda indeed contains no kava.
Turns out the only thing in the store with kava in it was a bottle of kava and kratom extract mixed together. Kava is an ancient medicine with muscle relaxing and calming properties, that unlike kratom, has essentially no addiction potential. The fact that the only product in the store with kava in it contains Kratom is is borderline unethical.
I did get a few mitra sodas because i appreciate SC even having them, and I am a responsible kratom user who can handle it, but honestly it felt more like the sales person was more interested in turning my sale and getting me to the register than actually helping me find what I wanted.
Iām a softy for working people and businesses like this, but this excluded me as a customer. It is disappointing to see the more addiction prone option always favored. The staff Veronica, Justin and Alexis (store manager) is rude and unprofessional. They will let children under 18 enter with parents while they hassle adults with proper identification (Veronica) This store needs to be investigated and bring new staff with proper training. Every staff member (Justin) harassed customer during a complaint while the manager could not handle any customer service issues herself. New management please and new staff. Donāt go here if you are a person of color. Alexis (store manager) will say you are loud and you yell.
I was stereotyped from the moment I walked into the store as I was told that I ālookā like I smoke. I do not smoke I was only looking at incense while my family shopped. I believe I was racially profiled and stereotyped as there were two teenage children who shopped with their mother. Veronica stated that the children were autistic and I know the children attend a school nearby where I live and they are perfectly fine. Every time the staff was asked why they discriminated against me they came up with a reason why it was their policy to treat me this way. The only staff member who did not respond negatively was Hailey who seemed pleasant however she stated that she was only there for the show. It seemed like I was their entertainment for the day as they must often make people feel this way. I am asking for a boycott of all Smokers Choices in Pennsylvania by people of color. For starters the two guys on shift were no help a customer who walked in was more helpful than those two guys...the one with the longer hair was ruuuude... He insisted that apparently we couldn't read the price on the sign for the sub-box vapers choice starter kit which said 42.99 +tax he didn't even come over and read the sign he argued with us from across the store. Till he got his lazy ass over and grabbed the vape, scanned it and realized he was wrong!!! Then we were trying to figure out what kind of e-juice we should get, like which level of nicotine we could start off at... They were no help with that either cause the guy behind the counter looked too stoned to comprehend what we were saying... So we just winged it... We were lucky we got something decent... But all in all were happy with the product which is the only reason I gave 2 stars otherwise for customer service I am extremely appalled... I've been going to smokers choice for years to get all my tobacco needs... So to have this kind of service makes me want to not go there again... Which I do believe I will be taking my business elsewhere to a vape shop who will actually take care of...
