Malibu Conference Center at Calamigos Ranch — Local services in Westlake Village

I just attended my friend's wedding here and although I have to say that I love how secluded and private it is, and the romantic vibe with all the pretty lighting, this venue was just a pain to find and completely not friendly for those wearing heels.

When we arrived, there were no signs whatsoever so we actually drove past the place and had to make a u-turn around. Its located pretty deep inside the Malibu canyons so one wrong turn and you will get pretty lost. Once we finally drove into the venue, the dirt road was just terrible to drive on! There's rocks and dirt flying everywhere and my bf even complained that he had just washed his car so now its dirty again. What's worse is that since there's absolutely no paved roads once you drive inside, we had to walk down the same dirt road into the Cottage Pavilion where the reception was taking place. I ended up getting dirt and rocks in my heels along with every other female there who were wearing heels.

After the reception, guests were told to walk back on the dirt road towards the banquet house. At this point I was really getting tired of walking and wished I was wearing flats instead. The outdoor patio with the lighted tent was serene and romantic, although on a late October night guests were freezing by 9pm. I did appreciate that they had heated lamps outside but most of us still had to wear our jackets and coats throughout the dinner service. Walking around the patio area was also a pain since my stilettos kept getting stuck in the spaces in between the wooden flooring.

TIP* My tip is for all the ladies. Whatever you do, remember to wear flat shoes or short heels, otherwise its going to be a b*tch of a time walking around all night for any...
