We like: -SOR was a welcome alternative to school music programs our kids weren't interested in pursuing. They weren't going to be involved in music any longer after trying another Westlake music lessons option they didn't vibe with. Then we thought of SOR and have been so happy since. -Never have I ever heard either of the kids say they didn't want to go to SOR. That in itself says something you can't fake. -Great music, constantly changing options. -I think the email recaps are valuable to know where to grow. In a friendly way there is a sense of leadership/teamwork exhibited and half the battle of growing is knowing what you need to do better next time. -Everyone wins as opposed to the sports the kids are in. Someone has to win and someone has to lose. At SOR we all cheer for all the kids (and teachers). -The boot camps are a great way to change up the summer sports or malaise for young teens. -I believe the SOR programs are character building; the teamwork, patience and courage to stand up and perform will be lasting elements for the kids to take with them into their futures. -We like the safety and perseverance we saw during C-19. The programs/shows gave us all something to look forward to during shutdowns and uncertain times. Even with remote classes, the sense of community and learning carried on; the "show went on" outside! Too many to list -We have referred our niece, son's best friend and encouraged...
Read moreI’m brand new to drums and school of rock but I’ve been having so much fun. I’ve been with 3 teachers (due to my first instructor moving locations) and all of them have been so nice. They all teach very different but all wonderfully. I have horrible anxiety that frequently stops me from playing, but everyone is so understanding and gives me time. I’ve also had troubles with getting my kit to sound right and they have been very helpful and gave me tips. I had a trial lesson a bit more than a year ago and my name was different from what it is now. It always makes me so nervous about how people will react when they see my name change, but no one seemed confused or upset by it. They just clarified that I am the same person and asked which name I preferred and that was the end of it the questions. It felt so amazing that no one every made a big deal about me changing my name! One more thing is that I was going to try drum lessons somewhere else before I started here and when I talked to the instructor and he kept saying thing like I’m behind and that it’s late to start an instrument (because I’m 14), but no one here has said anything like that. They all are so kind and let you work at your own pace. I’m looking forward to gaining...
Read moreSchool of Rock West Cleveland has given my daughter something beautiful that’s difficult to describe. She started three years ago in Rock 101, but soon advanced to the main shows. She’s a quirky/bright kid who can be difficult, but she has blossomed at SoR. The managers, teachers, and band directors are all amazing. They get her and appreciate her differences. She’s gained so much confidence that she’s improved all around. The learning environment is exceptional. It’s inclusive, welcoming, and our daughter is thriving. The one-on-one lessons combined with band practice and real performances provide an excellent method of music instruction. Not only can she play the Bass, she can dance and sing while playing along with a band. She knows when to come in, what to do if someone makes a mistake, and has started learning how to write her own bass lines. This school builds real transferable life skills. Also, the concerts are...
