I had reserved a party room for my child's birthday, which was my second year in a row holding a birthday party here. Room comes with admission included for 25 people. Prior year, I was able to purchase a prepaid card for any guests over the 25 to get in, but was told that was now 'against policy'. I said that was unreasonable but ultimately asked to be called when we were at about 20 guests. I did not receive a call and then started having several guests arrive that told me they paid for their own entry (for which I am now including cash in my thank you cards to pay them back because I was so embarrassed).

I went up to the front and said I was upset that I had guests coming down that paid for themselves to get in. I asked if they could be refunded and pay for their entry myself and was told no. I was also told that I was called, and I showed them my phone that there was no call in the log from them. Then they tried to tell me my husband said my number was wrong on the contract. He verified when we arrived and signed in that it was correct, and I asked them to show me the number on the contract as well at that time and it was correct so that was false. I then asked again if I could just do the prepaid card as I now had to sit at the front of the building waiting for the remainder of my guesses to arrive instead of attending my child's birthday party that I put a lot of time and effort into, and regardless of that, just wanted to be spending that time with my child. I was again told no and sorry that was policy. I had no issue with this last year and do not think that is an unreasonable request. Having the host of a party sit at the front of the building missing half of their child's birthday party IS unreasonable.

The employees continued to point to the contract numerous times saying I signed for 25 people. I am not sure why they felt that was relevant as again, the contract states that any additional guests over 25 just may not be guaranteed entry, not that I can't have more than 25 people join, just as I did the prior year, obviously at an additional cost. The contract says nothing about not being able to purchase a prepaid punch card, which was the entire issue. The employees became very argumentative as did I, and just kept pointing at the contract and saying that is what I signed. I told them I am aware of what I signed repeatedly. One of the employees did ultimately agree that the policy was not clear as written.

I ultimately was left with no choice but to sit and wait until my guests arrived, and missed almost half of the time slot for the party sitting in the lobby of the rec center.

Customer service experienced was terrible, no solutions being presented, no interest in helping, no empathy; just a lot of no's, rudeness, arguing, and showing me the contract repeatedly.

This could be easily solved by taking a list of guests names and marking them off at arrival, and then settling any amount due at the end of the event, or charging to a credit card that could be taken on file. Or, using the prepaid card but again, only for guests on a list that the host provided.

Additionally as other's have mentioned, you only get five minutes to set up and you are very limited on what you can do to decorate (but this is better than last year - they provided no set up time at that party). Guests had a difficult time finding room and were not provided directions even though staff said they would advise guests where the room was.

I used to come to swim at this rec center frequently and as I stated, this was the second party two years in a row that I held there but no longer. I will not be patronizing this facility nor will I ever hold another party there. The way the employees treated me as a customer, a person, and as a mom was not acceptable and policies for how these types of situations should be handed should be reviewed.

Please spend your money somewhere else and do not give this place your hard-earned cash. They clearly don't care about or appreciate...

I went to the rec @ 6:30am and tried to pay my resident admission fee, the lady at the desk swiped my card and looked at me weird & says “the card didn’t work” I responded that there was definitely funds on there and asked if she could swipe it again, but before I could get the words out she interrupted me and asked me for my ID. So I gave her my ID which she looked at & then swiped my card again with attitude and immediately says “ya it didn’t work” I asked if they had an ATM in the rec center as they used to have one in the commons area. She responded with an annoyed tone in her voice “NO” so I said okay I will go to the gas station and draw cash. Feeling weird about the interaction that took place so early in the morning. I went to the gas station to pull cash and discovered that my card had been blocked by my bank to protect me from what they though was fraud from the day before. The ATM receipt printed and said “stolen card” on it. My bank didn’t open till 9am so I couldn’t get it taken care of till then. After getting a new card, I went back to the rec and a sign was posted on the door that the hot tub jets were not working and the hot tub would be cooler then usual. Considering that’s what I was going there for was to have a relaxing day. I turned around and left to the new Broomfield community center & paid my Non resident fee with my new card & used their spa & pool. After having time to think about why that lady treated me the way she did, I came to realize that she thought I was trying to use a stolen card. & treated me as if I was a thief even after seeing my ID & that the card belonged to me. She still went on to be rude. It was a very discouraging way to start my day. I’ve been using Westminster rec center for 20+ years and after going to the new Broomfield community center im glad to say I will not be going back to Westminster Rec Center again. And anybody who asks me about a good recreation center I will recommend the Broomfield Community Center from now on. I've given excellent reviews in the past for this rec center. We have have some of my children's best parties here. Last night was an absolutely awful experience. I took my young granddaughter to relax at about 7 PM. I try not to complain.. But so many things were unpleasant that here I am. First of all when we got in there the music was so loud, I could barely speak to my grandchild. The lifeguards were dancing around. One of them was Super loud and obnoxiously distracting the other lifeguards. So that was fine but they were not watching the kids At All !! So that was fine........ But then they began playing football across the long pool with the real football. They were flailing about and running. And I literally had to yell at one of them so they didn't knock my little four year old granddaughter over. There were Winging the football right over their heads of families and children in the pool. I had to walk my child back and forth for safety. They were having the kind of obnoxiously dangerous activity that I would have complained to the lifeguards about, except they were the lifeguards. Then, at eight o'clock, with thirty minutes left for everyone to swim, They pulled out the hoses and started hosing down the pool everywhere. fine. Except then they started playing again and leaving hoses everywhere for the little ones to fall over.. I really felt this whole evening was an unsafe environment. And I usually drop off my middle schoolers to swim. I will not be doing that with childish behavior from the ones that should be watching our children.!! I actually felt like one or two of the guys were trying to work, but they were so distracted by this loud boy with long hair and a ball cap on, he was like at his own pool party. .
