I will never shop at this store again. Upon entering self-check-out, I was immediately approached by the employee servicing self-checkout area. She said, you can’t use self-checkout you have more than 20 items. I advised her that I was checking out for two customers. My mother who just suffered a stroke and thinks on a 1st grader level and myself battling cancer. First and foremost, upon entering the store, Giant needs to install a large sign at the entrance stating that you need to count your items as you are putting them in your cart just in case you need to use self-service because that is the limit of 20 items one customer is allowed to purchase. Giant must be understaffed with only one cashier line open with a long line we are forced to go to the self-checkout. Also, the scanner glass was so dirty it wasn’t scanning barcodes. The same abusive employee comes over several times to reset the scanner machine and starts counting the groceries I am trying to scan and bag. Clean the glass and the machines will work. I scanned and paid for the first 20 items then started my mother’s purchases. Giant, as a business owner and a former Giant employee, I am appalled at how you now do business. I would never limit customers on how much they want to purchase. YOU ARE LOSING SALES WHEN LIMITING CUSTOMER’S SALES. I LEFT ITEMS AT THE SCANNER BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE LIMIT. YOUR FEMALE EMPLOYEE W/SHORT CROPPED WHITE HAIR WITH A BAD ATTITUDE IS LOSING CUSTOMERS BY THE MINUTE. SEND SOMEONE UNDERCOVER AND TRY IT YOURSELF. As I again waited for attendant to reset scanner, I looked at other customers to see how they were fairing and they were mad, waiting for help with their machines, shaking their heads at the horrible service and dirty machines. No one wants to put their food on the dirty scanners. After the fiasco with the scanner and giant food female employee constantly standing in my space counting items placed in the bags trying to demean me and my shopping with limited strength due to chemo and an 84-year-old stroke victim in tow at the cart. I had more than 20 items per person limit, so I left 4 items there. MORE LOST SALES FOR GIANT. Wow, I have shopped this Giant since 1987 and have never been treated with such disrespect and prejudice. I can only assume it is because my mother and I are Asian. I had not thought about discrimination until I looked for a manager and noticed there was only one race at this store at the time we were there, and it was not Asian. Now I know why we were treated so harshly. I found a manager and explained what occurred. He apologized and asked what he could do. Yes, get rid of the judgmental, racist woman targeting customers in self-checkout. Employ multiple races. I was so taken back by this; I left the store crying. I have never been so insulted. I called neighbor friends and found out this also happened to them and they no longer shop there. I told my family only to find out this also happened to my daughter and sons. This store needs to close. No customer service here, discrimination and prejudice and hatred by some employees, produce is wilted, limited meat selection, no cashiers available. Why pay for substandard service and products. Shop somewhere else. No one needs this negativity in this...
Read moreTonight there was a hazy fog and noxious chemical smell in the back of the deli/bakery section. While ordering deli meat, I witnessed the staff in the back coughing and gasping for air. The counter staff said it has been that way for close to an hour, and requested the manager to come back to address the issue multiple times.
I witnessed several people walking near the deli counter cough and wipe their eyes because the smell and chemicals were so intrusive. The staff apologized and said that it was not of their own doing, that a contractor was fixing something in the back. I don't understand why you would do this during peak hours (5:00pm)
While waiting on my order, the store manager finally came back to see what was going on and told them "they are done working, it will be fine". I spoke to the manager and he said that he would "open the back door for ventilation". I expressed my concern for the staff working in that environment, being exposed to whatever chemicals were in the air, and the real issue of working with potentially dangerous equipment (meat slicers, deep fat fryer, knives) and potential of chemicals contaminating the food. He reiterated that the door would be open to vent the area.
I have the deepest respect for the staff, however jeopardizing their safety for a maintenance item during the work day is unacceptable. If the repair was that urgent, then close the deli and not put staff and customers at risk.
In my personal opinion, putting your staff in a potentially dangerous environment, brushing off the shoppers concerns, and blatent poor management is not a healthy environment.
I'm anxious to see what the corporate office, health inspector, and BBB have to say regarding...
Read moreI had left Giant because they had the 14oz boxes of Cap Crunch selling for $3.79 Apple Jacks 10oz selling for $3.99. With the membership deal.. Neither one the family size. I left. @ Weis I brought the cap crunch 2bxs for $2.79 same expiration date and all. Apple Jack family size 19.4 oz for $3.99 Signed up for a membership and ended up paying $2.00 for both cap. Crunch..not only the price but on 2 different occasions there is a Caucasian older man carrying around a clipboard with glasses who I assume to be managers and an older black woman w glass in a black button up, who I assume is also manager. These two managers speak to their employees with zero respect! from seafood workers where I first noticed it, to the ppl who wait in the self checkout place. Hearing how they speak to them makes me very uncomfortable, I want to mind my business but I also want to inquire the reason why they think they can speak to people in that manner. However. I've been purposely going to this location...
