Nicky's Garden Center — Local services in Wheeling

I called from out-of-state on a busy Saturday morning in September to ask whether the garden center had pre-planted pots of fall mums to order for my older parents. Yes, they do! I first asked whether this is a good time to call because it's a busy Saturday in September and my order could wait. The very kind person I spoke with said yes it's busy, and they're getting ready for a wedding in the afternoon, but he would be glad to take my order. He described the lattice-style re-plantable pots and helped me select some over the phone (no pressure). They deliver, and delivery charge was reasonable. My parents were delighted with the delivery (arrived when promised) and I think it may have been the same kind person who delivered as who took the order. The mums, he explained to my parents, will continue to bloom through the fall. Would very much recommend this...

I stopped here to get a Christmas tree because it was convenient and close to home. Very nice and helpful folks, but the prices are absurd! $125 for a tree that I'll throw in my woods in a month. And the tree is no fresher or prettier than a $20-60 one anywhere else. I'll write this off as a learning lesson and will ask prices next time I buy a tree before it's already tied to my roof. For these prices I would expect a wagon ride to a tree field where we pick out our own and it's cut...
