Jamestown Ferry — Local services in Williamsburg

I have been on people ferrys plenty of times but never an auto carrying ferry. I was visiting the area from Colorado and saw the signs. I expected it to cost money. Since I'm not from the area I didn't know it was public transportation. I had no reason to cross over to Scotland other than is seemed a good touristy thing to do. I have ridden the Pocahontas, the Williamsburg, and the Jamestown ferry boats. They're all basically the same except the Powhatan and Pocahontas which have an upper viewing deck. You won't want to sit in the bathrooms but otherwise these boats are pretty efficient for crossing the river and the family appreciates the break on our long trips. WOW! I have lived 2-1/2 years on Virginia's Northern Neck, and this was my first trip on this ferry. Also my first time even knowing about this ferry! We went from Surry County into Jamestown.
