Thank you Lauren and Andrew, for being great hosts!
Value: Value with a coupon (Living social, Groupon, etc.) is top notch 5 stars fantastic, assuming you have at least 30 minutes to spend!
Value at normal price depends a lot on how much time you have, and how you value peace, quiet, internet, charge-ports and outlets and “all included snacks and drinks! If you have less than an hour you may find the value quickly diminishing as the pace and atmosphere is more geared to relaxed. If you have over an hour and a half to spare, it is a great value no matter how you pay for it.
Selection: Great selection of snacks and foods. Self serve mini-portioned dishes served buffet style. Makes it easy to be bold and try new things especially since some of the dishes are very small portions.
Cookies, pastries, fresh brewed coffee. Also, self serve soda (Ginger ale, coke, sprite also diet coke/sprite) Espresso machine (the type that grinds the beans when you press your order selection)
Great bar, sociable staff. They seem willing and eager to experiment with drinks and mixes.
Great service and atmosphere. Great staff. Departure/gate screens spread within facility. Great bathrooms (clean, decorated, spacious)
I tried the beet sald, the egg salad, the tomato soup, quinoa and roasted carrots, Kale “ceasar salad”, Mexican chocolate pudding, and on and on! And they were all tasty treats. Again each item comes in a tiny portion, but since you can leisurely go back as many times as you want that is more of a plus than a minus!
Sex on the beach: fruity and tasty Espresso martini with real espresso from the espresso machine, vodka, Kahlua, and Baileys! Three beans floating at the top for good luck and garnish!
The less than great (but for me not enough to take off a star):
The mac and cheese was brought out while I watched, yet it was very very dry and had virtually no flavor. The taste of the pasta noodle was the dominant flavor. No cheese stringing and virtually no cheese flavor.
Other: If you visit at Bradley airport, note that there is no alcohol served until after 9am, and as such, it is about half price in the wee...
Read moreSome people select just one star because you have to select something to move on. The review of this lounge in Hartford (BDL) does just deserve one single star. The people are friendly and it wasn't very busy... it goes well down hill from there.
I've spent plenty of time in airline clubs, this is by far the worst experience. I've been to Centurion clubs where there was hot food, better selections and WAY better seating areas.
I hope someone that matters reads this so that serious changes...
Read moreWent to this lounge on a Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 PM. First impression: it's small. That's fine, since lounges can be sprawling and yet packed at the same time. Check-in took a minute. They had to write down the AMEX card and boarding pass info on a piece of paper. Second impression: it seemed full, but in reality it was only about 1/2 to 2/3 full. Tables & seating were not available because there were used glassware and dirty plates that had not been picked up/cleared by staff.
Food options during our visit consisted of half a pan of lasagna, pasta salad, lettuce, olives, and an almost-empty tray of turkey or ham sandwiches. There were some cookies and protein bars on another counter, but that was it. Food quality was "meh", and staff only restocked the sandwiches while we were there. We left at 6:30 PM looking for dinner in the airport terminal. At least the bar seemed well stocked. Got myself a beer and a prosecco for the wife. That said, there were no glassware available by the juice & tea dispensers. There were paper cups next to the coffee thermos, but there wasn't any coffee available.
What really triggered us was the staff started putting chair on empty tables starting around 6 PM while there were guests sitting right there! I worked in fast food and restaurants, and you don't do that while the place is still OPEN and there are guests present. I felt bad for the few guests who walked in after 6 and wondered what they thought of the place.
Avoid this lounge if you can. It's only good for a...
