I shop here only for food, so review is only about the food area. A large percentage of sales floor is devoted to clothing, sporadic shoe offerings and other general merchandise. Prices look to be low. The shoes I glanced at were unimpressive. If you're a bargain hunter, you might want to check it.
Food is comparable to Aldi offerings, with perhaps less reliance on the house brands, maybe a little more upscale. Undersells chain supermarkets by 30% or more, especially in fresh produce. Their eggs are often in the $ .69/dozen range, with a one other popular producer's -- recently Eggland,'s Best -- substantially higher, but still considerably below supermarket prices. Breads, packaged meat such as bratwurst and sausages, are European. Have an in-house bakery, with scrumptious-looking European pastries. I don't eat wheat, so don't partake, but my wife's take is that the pastries do indeed have the thin layers and flakiness of a true European bakery.
In my experience, the staff is not knowledgeable about what food items they have, or where they might be located, which is a a downer. Aldi's checkout system is the fastest I've ever encountered, and Lidl's doesn't come up to it.
Sales on food items can be really surprising -- .89 apiece for a fresh pineapple today.

Read moreMy husband and I were thrilled when Lidl opened a store here. The prices were fantastic, the staff was happy and helpful and they appeared to be what they claimed (local supporters, fair priced unlike grocery chains and locally sourced goods when possible). What we noticed at the one year mark was everything, and I mean everything, that was priced below walmart started to creep up 10-25 cents at a time. We continued to hang in there for a few more months, but, after doing comparative shopping, we were actually paying MORE at Lidl! Lidl kcups are more than walmart and food lion sale price, their cherries are a dollar more than any grocery locally, chicken wings are a full 2.00 more than lidl price of 2 years ago.
Has anyone else noticed the old lidl price is now a weekly "prices marked down a dollar!"?! ....no, prices aren't marked down, they are marked up and then advertised at a sale! I was so disgusted I called corporate, 45 minutes later I hung up. Really deceptive practices.
Lastly, ask them how they support the local community. I did and got blank stares. I thought at the very least they would support shelters with food, but I was told by an employee and the manager the food is returned to their warehouse in VA.
Lidl is nothing more than a shell game grocery chain exactly...
Read moreI always enjoy shopping at this store, especially the French baguette they have. Today October 16th, 2021 I went there as every weekend to get my Fresh baguette, they have them on sale $1.29 the cashier charged me 1.49 I didn't pay attention to how I was charged until I was packing my groceries then I realised that I was charged regular price. I went back to the store I asked the cashier that she charged me the wrong price. She asked which baguettes I got I told her the ones on sale, then asked her manager.the manager stated that probably they have limitted sale. I just laughed at that, because they were over loaded with French baguettes. I told to check and her answer was probably they were placed at the wrong spot, which is not the case....long story short I asked to speak with the store manager to complain about the attitude and the professionalism that both workers have. The store manager came and she wasn't following or she was giving and impression that she doesn't want even to listen to my conern. I took my baguettes and left the store. I guess they need to have more training in customer service, because I don't believe that they have a good understanding that because of customers they still have business first then...
