Pat's IGA — Local services in Wolcott

I have lived in this town my whole life and Pats has always been a great little spot to grab a few groceries. I have noticed in recent years the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up... I understand we are in a pandemic, but paying upwards of $10-$11 for mediocre bacon is just crazy. Also, the kids that work the check out counters are CONSTANTLY talking amongst themselves, the last four to five times I have been there, I walk up and they completely ignore me and continue their conversation. I have had to say something to get their attention and get any assistance, and they seem to act like customers are bothering them. I think it’s so unprofessional, and it’s so irritating to see people in their own worlds, or on their phones while assisting customers. Seems there is not much supervision or leadership there. The parking lot is also super dangerous- people fly through there in all directions, you never know who has the right of way or who’s going to come flying around the back corner. I have pulled out of a spot and almost gotten hit- there aren’t any signs that say one way or stop signs or anything- it’s just a free for all. Pat's has been a longstanding, hometown fixture in that very same location, there on Wolcott Road, for as long as I can remember. Even though the other Bank, and small businesses that are on either side and in back of it have come and gone, repeatedly, and changed names many times over the years, Pat's has remained a constant. There, they sell a large variety of all sorts of groceries, and have a bakery with breads, pastries, and cakes as well. Personally, I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi's and OSJL, because I'm able to stretch my grocery $ further. . . but still, I will often visit Pat's whenever I run out of something and have to pick it up in a hurry; or if I only need an item or two. Also, if I'm invited to someone's house for a meal, and want to bring some pastry, bread, a cake, ice cream, or even some flowers. . . then, Pat's is the place! And more recently, I've come to find out that you can even order LOVELY fruit baskets from Pat's Produce Department!! I was very pleased with not only how the baskets looked, but also the quality of the produce, and the more-than-reasonable price. Pat’s IGA is the BEST! They catered my brother’s wedding back in 2018 and everyone still talks about their awesome food! Now they catered my own wedding in 2022 and again, everyone LOVED the food and still talks about it today. My brother’s wedding had over 200 people at it and mine had around 60. They were both buffet style and we came home with so many leftovers, it was perfect! Even though my wedding was outside under a tent, food stayed warm and flavorful. We even had them make cupcakes for us and again, VERY delicious! I would use Pat’s IGA for any future event and you should too! The employees are friendly and professional.
