Quite possibly the worst service experience Iâve ever had. If Google allowed zero stars, thatâs what Iâd rate this business. I canât recommend avoiding them strongly enough.
I brought my Porter-Cable nailer to them with a simple request: call me with an estimate of the cost to fix it. No problem, they said. Weâll call you by the end of the week, Monday at the latest. No call. I called in the middle of the following week and they apologized for not calling and assured me that theyâd call âlater today, tomorrow at the latestâ. No call.
Three weeks in, I went to the shop thinking, screw it, Iâll just get my nailer back. Mike, the owner, looked up my ticket and told me, to my astonishment, that theyâd sent my nailer to Porter-Cable in Chicago for repair three days after I dropped it off because it was part of a recall. He apologized again for not calling, for not providing an estimate first, and assured me that there would be no charge since it was a recall, and that he would personally call me later that day or the next day. You guessed it, no call.
Two more calls and over 5 weeks since I dropped the nailer off and I get Mike on the other end who apologizes yet again. And then proceeds to inform me that theyâve received my nailer back from Porter-Cable and that it will cost me $76 to pick it up. I reminded him that 1) I never received the estimate they promised, 2) I never authorized the repairs at any cost, and 3) he personally told me the repair would not cost me anything, since it was a recall. His response was âThey charged us, so we have to charge you.â When I pushed back, he offered to reduce the charge to $60, then $50.
Given their failure to deliver on even the simplest promise, or call me once in over five weeks, I have zero confidence that the nailer is actually repaired, let alone worth paying $50 for.
These guys left me in the lurch in the middle of a flooring job. If you depend on your tools like I do and expect people to stand by their word, go...
Read moreBrought my porter cable compressor in for a new hose. The young lady behind the counter Vikki wasn't sure if they could do it. But by looking around in their shop and conversing with her and the nice fellow that was working with her, my instincts told me to leave it there. I know places like this, just never been here before. I thought it would take at least a few weeks for them to find the part because that's what she told me! She called me the very next day to tell me it's fixed!! I was completely surprised and filled with joy! Had a wonderful experience picking it up, too. To top off the kindness that they displayed and the speedy service that they performed, the young lady behind the counter is a total hottie!! Thank you, Pro...
Read moreThis is the second time I have taken something to Pro Tool. Staff is friendly and honest. The first time they helped me with a user error issue at no charge. The second time they were able to replace a bad bearing on a wet polishing tool. Repair price was very reasonable ($60 for this job), a small fraction of what it would have cost to replace. They quoted 3 - 5 days and it was ready in 3. I'll definitely be back with any other tool service needs. They also had a selection of used tool cases hanging on the wall and I was able to pick one up for $5 to replace a broken tool case. ...
