I am the Tim one of the salespeople for xlr8 that has received several Ill reviews. One about a peterbuilt from a Lady that never came to our lot I had asked it to be removed for naming me and for the contents not being exactly truthful and more for for sure, we sell used trucks Used! I am a 52 year old fella that really goes out of his way to do everything in my power to make people happy. I have been a commissioned salesman for over 30 years and sometimes problems arise and have to be dealt with. What I have found is Its hard to hear the truth. For the These folks Its true . I met them on a Sunday early in the morning. They told me what was on the wish list . We found a truck I did take a 1500 cash deposit we agreed to bullet proof the truck a $6000 industry standard repair. and do rims tires and a lift kit.valued at $3400 Of course we do these bullet proofed trucks often over 165 trucks a year. I did send photos the fact the cab was up in the air and all the parts lay out on a board . Is a pretty good sign that the truck is being worked on and the final pic of the studs sticking up from the block were evident of its being studded. I hated to tell him Monday morning the day he was supposed to pick it up that we had run into motor issues on Saturday afternoon late that resulted in eating up most of the profit on the truck. I told them that we had again spent time Sunday trying to resolve before contacting him. This gentleman had left his license that Sunday I had this issue with his truck and I wanted to see him face to face. I drove to meet them so they would not have to drive back up to us . I spent two hours to drive to them that night we met . I had a check for the deposit but they would have liked cash back . I understand and as a business we had to return it by check to prove it was returned. Not a legal matter but I'm pretty sure we would be responding to my money was taken and not returned if it had not been a check I'm a hillbilly for sure but I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I wanted to try and satisfy them but we cant loose money for sure. I had apologized through the phone and in person at this point and then I offered them this..... the rust free, one owner truck from Texas freshly bullet proofed and fixed detailed but as it was with stock rims tires Md. inspected and a full year warranty on the work we had done..... Do you see where I am headed for the agreed upon price 16100 plus Md. fees and tax and tags. Folks that's a steel an 04 larriet crew cab short bed 6.0L diesel no rust what so ever... valued at 17400 stock not including a total top end rebuild worth over $6000. we were willing to sacrifice the truck at little to no profit to remedy the situation and please the daughter This truck is bright red beautiful with chrome stock rims and chrome step rails. When people mention ya by name derogatorily , You really have no recourse I have had folks that have made comments after they have been offered remedies . Since media is so important for small business its also important at times to defend yourself. The offer was a sound offer it would have been an awesome truck and I am sorry it did not work out. And I hope explaining the full account the very first time I felt I needed to is acceptable in viewers eyes. And ill give myself a four ..just trying to make up at least a half of...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to go in on a diesel truck to pull our horse trailer. The one we had was getting old and wearing out. We went to XLR8 after seeing an ad for a truck that we could afford. Went there test drove the truck and lost the brakes on the way back. They immediately fixed it. We thought great but instead of telling us everything Tim sold us the truck "as is" on the invoice with standard 30 day warrenty. We were told and it was advertised as "bulletproofed" ! Well first thing we find out the 4 wheel drive does not work took it with a list of things wrong and they fixed them all. We were pleased. Then we were told that it had 10 ply tires required to pull a horse trailer, they were not. We called and told them and they said that they would put 10 ply on for dealer cost for the tires so we took it back again. Didnt have a choice had to have them. It cost another $500. At this point we had already taken it to a shop to have a ball hitch put in the bed of truck and electric for brake plug $900 Finally we hope all is well, no such luck. Took to our mechanic to have him check everything and it had to have the calibers replaced hoping to fix the pulling to the right when applying the brakes $300 more. Then we noticed oil on our driveway so off to our mechanic it went. It had an oil leak and repair cost $1300. We at this point had the truck for over 30 days but we had spent many hours driving back and forth to XLR8 shop which was over an hour away and the truck was in our mechanics shop 2 times and the pulling the right is still there so it has to go back to the shop and have the brakelines replaced another $500 or more. In the long run it cost us almost $4000.00 to get it running properly. Inquired whether we could do anything about this and was told that there was not much we could do. We also had to call the office to find out about our tags because our temps were about up and they had not even sent the imfo to the MVA yet! This business knowing two women would be putting their trust in the them to treat us right. They took full advantage of the situation and left us in a bad place and in debt. I JUST DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO GO AND BUY A TRUCK FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY DECEIVE YOU NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE. SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. I REALLY HOPE TO SEE THEM LOSE THEIR...
Read moreNothing but good things to say here! I have dealt with XLR8 on more than 1 occasion for different needs. Most recently, my 05 needed tires. After pricing a few other local "recommended" tire shops who advertise low prices or sales I had them price me an identical set of tires I looked at from a competing "tire" shop. The only reason I even checked another place was because I was next door for something else and said what the hell...while Im here. Well I was quoted $1250. I thought that was a bit high so I gave XLR8 a call with the exact size/model etc. I didn't give them the price I was just quoted so there was no chance to "beat the competitor" by a few bucks. XLR8 crushed their price .... $878!! I asked the other place why they were so high do I get gold valve stems?? They told me I was lying and there was no way anyone in the area could sell those tires for that price and immediately turned to speak to next customer beside me...rude!! XLR8 had my tires in less than a day and the shop guys were great! A week later I had one tire that seemed to not hold air. They quickly looked at it, found nothing wrong but ordered me a replacement just to be safe. Any other dealer would have said I did it somehow since a week had passed.. The new tire came in the next day and so did I without an appointment and was out the door in 20min. I read other comments about the staff or non disclosure of defects etc and I just don't see how that's possible. The receptionist greets everyone with a smile and is always pleasant, the owner always makes it a point to make sure buyers are aware of all pertinent issues if any, and takes the time to speak to you to be sure your questions are answered which is haed to get anywhere else! Perhaps others should realize they're not buying a new vehicle, if they're on a budget their getting what's within budget, and they are trucks..not Cadillac's. People use trucks for work or to haul. They may have a scratch or 2 or if it has over 150-180k miles, and you don't expect at least some sort of minor repair over a few months or a year then I don't think the dealer is the issue. Great shop!...
