Their website claims “professional quality with a smile”. Couldn’t be furthest from the truth! Honesty and integrity is definitely lacking in this company.
Owner gives every excuse in the book and blames everyone else (including customer) for their ineptness. They will treat you with a “smile” until you question the quality of work being done or you complain about lack of communication or job progress. Then plan on things going even further south, if that’s even possible!
Company owner is never on job site except to get you to sign contract and give him a deposit. Foreman is rarely present causing severe lack of communication with subcontractors and even company’s own employees. We saw him on average for a few hours every couple of weeks and listened to subs and employees repeatedly complaining about him not being present or not knowing what he was doing.
We had an over $75k job. Company failed to get proper permits with county as provided in contract and did not use licensed subcontractors! Customer only found out after firing company by contacting county. Renderings of project were also never delivered which shows on contract as being included. Company is now trying to charge extras such as framing for a bedroom closet.
Timelines in contract mean nothing and again plan on this blame shifted to everyone else (subcontractors stealing money, COVID causing delays in getting estimates, companies trucks all broken down...list can go on and on). They will charge in contract for many items never on job site (for example port a potty) or not even being done (items for a kegerator in a bar on a job with NO bar). Then owner will argue with customer when brought to his attention but still never make monetary adjustments to contract.
They use an app (Buildertrend) for any changes in contract to be addressed and price reviewed then accepted or declined by customer. Plan on being charged for items never discussed and the app not being utilized and never having an agreed upon price. At this point the company was fired by me almost 7 weeks ago due to gross breaches of contract and unprofessionalism. I am still waiting on a refund of almost $17k overpaid! I only receive continued excuses and delays from owner.
Finally...Beware on positive reviews you may find online (ie google reviews) for them. Company employee (and per company website long time friend of the owner) is leaving 5 star reviews. This is the kind of integrity you should expect if you do hire them. PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE...
Read morewas not happy with this company at all! Our painter recommended this company as they had been working with them for awhile. We were in a time crunch due to refinancing our home and reached out to have a porch band board replaced on our deck. $689 later when the painter showed up to check the deck work, he was furious! The painter had explained to the AHC representative that we needed a piece of the outer band of our deck replaced as well as some floor boards replaced and possibly some columns replaced before he could paint our deck. The representative of AHC sent us a quote that said, "It has been noted there MAY BE other areas of repair that need addressed which can be addressed at a rate of $35/hr/man as needed plus materials." These other areas that "MAY" have needed to be replaced were NEVER communicated to us and could have been done in the 1/2 day they charged us for. We never received a phone call explaining anything further, only the email quote. Since the painter trusted the deck representative to do the communicating, he did not tell us either. Furthermore, we were told that replacing the outer band was 1/2 day's work. It was not, it was maybe 2 hours (we have camera footage of how long the men were at our home). While I understand there is often a minimum to send workers out - that was also NEVER communicated to us. So basically, they gave us minimal information and took advantage of their 1/2 day minimum and neglected to replace boards vital to our paint job (this may have taken 30 minutes). Also, when my husband spoke to the rep from AHC the day of the work, the rep was RUDE!!! Because we were unable to be home, we sent a family member over to pay the gentlemen. When we explained that, his reply was, "my guys always get paid." Like we were insulting him! We didn't know payment was taken later. We hadn't worked with them before. The painter was gracious enough to do the work AHC didn't do, free of charge (way to go Five Star Painting!) and asked that we contact Atlanta Home Completion to ask for some type of compensation. NOTHING! They explained that's the minimum charge and since we said we only wanted the outer band, we owed the $689. While I recognize this all "legal," it's dancing on a line of ethics and I ain't playing no music! NOT A FAN!!! There are plenty of companies out there that don't treat their customers this way....
Read moreWe decided to go with AHC for our deck rebuild based on the reviews, but unfortunately we had the exact opposite experience as most. Our 5 day job turned into a job that took over 2 weeks! It was the most stressful, frustrating experience my husband and I have ever had with a contractor! Chris would not return my texts, and was very slow to respond to my husband. The work crew that came to the house never arrived at a consistent time- anywhere from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and then would stay until 9-10 pm! The work crew varied and often there was not anyone that spoke English. There was absolutely no project manager, so after a week's worth of work Chris finally showed up and instructed his crew to take apart the deck and start over. One day 2 workers were here for 8 hours and all that was accomplished was putting the floorboards down for 7 steps! They would cut the boards, screw them down, Facetime someone, take it apart, and start over. I am not exaggerating when I say that every part of our deck was done and redone 2-3 times. It got to the point where I honestly thought someone was playing a joke on us. The crew also used our saw horses and our wheel barrow because they did not have their own. Our yard looked like a tornado had come through here, with the old deck demo materials and trash every where that I ended up picking up myself most evenings. Water bottles, soda cans, and leftover food from their lunches were scattered around daily. After allowing them to use my restroom 3 times, I finally said no more and found toilet paper out back as they must have been using the woods to go to the bathroom. Only 1 man was sent to clean up and clearly could not lift the old concrete footings so he busted them up with a sledge hammer which left small concrete "rocks" all over our yard. He removed the big pieces of trash and building materials, but left our yard a mess! My husband spend his 4th of July cleaning up the pile of sawdust left in the yard, raking out the concrete rocks left in the yard, and picking up the hundreds of nails, screws, spacers, etc. out of the yard. It was unbelievable how much stuff was left behind and I continue to find. I will say that we are pleased with the end result of the deck, but it definitely was not worth the nightmare we went...
