Poor Organization, Control, Sound, Logistics, etc..... I wanted to enjoy the 'Monster Truck' night with my son but: They oversold the place so seating was hard to find an hour prior to start. They started late (8pm for this type of event should mean 8pm - not 8:15 or later). After 2 hours and 40 minutes at the track (we arrived at 7pm) we got to see what allotted to maybe 20 minutes worth of racing (a couple/few short Monster Truck heat races mixed with a couple short ATV races). Sound went out to 1/2 the track so we couldn't hear anything. Lines for EVERYTHING were so long it was insane....Im talking easily 45+minutes to get a drink. Security was lax at best and it was apparent they had no control of the environment ("Kids, get back from the fence was repeated 3 dozen times and not only did the parents and kids ignore it, but there was nobody around to really do anything about it). Eventually they got back - but it was really annoying (both the parents and the track). $30 for my son and I was not a good value. Its not the $30 - its what you get for the money....and in this case, virtually nothing. No apparent organization, schedule, communication, etc. Parking....well, lets not even talk about that. I cannot imagine what kind of a nightmare leaving would have been had we stayed. Completely out of control. We had been here once before in 2016 for a regular Saturday night race and it was better, but not great. Somewhat similar experience but on a smaller scale since the crowd was smaller.
Really kind of too bad as I love racing (especially good ol' fashion racing like this), but to me this could have been managed, planned and presented SO much better. Be it the Monster Truck night (which is a bit more specific to this review) or the regular racing night (which I clearly remember not being a whole heck of a...
Read moreI took my little boy to the monster truck show last night, it was his 7th birthday. He and his friend were so excited. He was even more excited when he saw the announcer throwing T-shirts to other children sharing his birthday. He was almost to the announcer’s tower when the guy called the end of intermission. I saw my little boy begin speaking to the announcer who was responding through the loud speaker for the whole crowd to hear. He responded to my son “oh, it’s your birthday too?” And “how old are you?” I could see my son getting more excited that the announcer was even speaking to him. The announcer then said “wow your 7 years old, do you know what you’re getting for your birthday?” As my first grader jumped up and down with excitement the announcer then said “Nothing! Now go sit down!” There was a full grandstand, pit, and tailgate. Their announcer decided that the best course of action was to try to humiliate my 7 year old child in front of hundreds of people. It was completely inappropriate. The announcer obviously didn’t need the loud speaker to hear and talk to my child, he could have, and should have, handled it differently. I understand that intermission was just ending, but my child was purposely embarrassed and ridiculed by an adult employee and then laughed at by hundreds of people, on his birthday. His joy quickly turned to tears. My child didn’t need a free shirt, I was planning on buying him one regardless. However, after this instance I did not feel that it was appropriate to contribute any more support to this business. I am both appalled and saddened by...
Read moreGreat dirt track racing with lots of special race events. My favorite is when the outlaw Sprint cars are there. It is a family friendly environment. You may want to bring ear protection for young kids though. The grandstands are concrete, so bring something to sit on. You can also bring in coolers less than 14 inches. They also have an area where you can park your vehicle (tailgating) to watch the races instead of the grandstands. I haven't done that though. There is no alcohol allowed in the grandstand area, but it is allowed in the tailgating area. (There are fences keeping these areas separate. You can not walk to the tailgating area from the grandstands.) There is no smoking in the grandstands, but there are smoking areas just behind them by the bathrooms. There are concession stands that serve hot food, snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. You can get autographs from winning drivers at the stand that sells shirts after each race. Races start at 7 pm on Saturdays and end around 11pm or shortly after. Gates open at 5:30 pm. It gets very dusty while the cars are racing, so wear something you don't mind getting dirty. You may also want glasses of some kind to help with dust getting in your eyes. My family really enjoys this track and we go every year! I highly recommend...
