I have NEVER experienced the level of incompetence and disregard in dealing with a cemetery before in my life! I traveled from Texas to Illinois in mid-August to purchase a gravestone for my grandmother. The aforementioned was paid in full at the time of the order and it was communicated by the representative Josephine that it would take a minimum of 12 weeks for the stone to be ordered and laid. I was told that I would receive a follow-up communication once the stone was ordered and a tentative time frame for the stone to be installed. Needless to say - there was not a follow-up.
I contacted the office in November and conveyed the lack of follow-up, only to receive a voicemail from the same representative a couple of days later advising that the gravestone was never ordered and the needful would be done immediately.
This morning I received another call indicating that the gravestone was finally ordered however, I would need to sign-off on the drawing of the headstone (Even though I took care of this in August). Since, I am out of state, I requested that the details be emailed. Guess what? The same representative sent me someone else's grave details!! I called the representative back and was advised that they would send the correct details and I am still waiting! In an attempt to escalate the matter, I asked to speak with a manager however, was advised that said manager named Liz was on a conference call and would return my call. Yup, you guessed it - I am still awaiting that call too.
My grandmother chose this cemetery to be laid to rest next to her proud veteran husband and I have done my best to honor her last wishes. With everything that has transpired, words cannot adequately articulate the emotions I am feeling. If the option was a zero rating - that would be the option in this situation. Lincoln Cemetery - you have failed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I went to the cemetery to find his great grandmotherās grave before we went on our day date. We get to the cemetery and he talks to one of the funeral coordinators and she gave him the section his great grandmother is buried. She told him that it is one of the hardest areas to find someone because it was the first section built and there are a lot of graves that do not have a tombstone or they are covered with overgrown grass. Talk about mission impossible this cemetery should be ashamed of themselves. There was no upkeep of this area. Tombstones were buried under the grass, tombstones were turned sideways, trees had fallen and no clean up, and we could not find anything. It felt as if we were desecrating graves with how much we had to stomp dirt off of the tombstones we could find. Others required us to find sticks and dig out some tombstones as best as we could.
If you have family members in Lot A please go and check on the state of their resting places. A lot of the ones we saw were World War 1...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThrough genealogy research we found that our aunt passed away in 1965 and was buried at Lincoln Cemetery. We went to the cemetery in hopes of locating her grave. We were given the location, but at the time there was no staff available to assist us in the physical location. We tried, but were unsuccessful. Today I contacted the cemetery and spoke with manager Liz. She had her staff members, Mark & Victor attempt to locate the physical grave. The majority of the graves in her section are unmarked, including my aunts' grave. They did an excellent job locating the grave and marked it so my family can visit. I am thankful and appreciative to Mark & Victor for their diligent search. The kindness, compassion and helpfulness of the Lincoln staff is outstanding! Thank You so much. Couldn't have found it...
