EDIT: Once my review was posted, the owner, Brittany, was quick to address my concerns. I commend her professionalism considering the circumstances. I truly wish things didn’t have to escalate to the level in which they did, however, grateful for a resolution.
There is a lot to be said about a person/establishment and how they manage conflict and adversity. I would never wish for anyone to get “bad hair“, but if you are unhappy with your services, this is not the establishment to offer conflict resolution. I am disappointed of course, but more so hurt to be honest because I work very hard, and I have very limited spare time. When I inquired about my concerns, I expected my kindness and openness to be reciprocated. I’m new to the area and saw that this salon had great reviews and was recommended by the locals. I booked an appointment for last Saturday and sent an image of my ideal hair goal to the salon for preparation. When I got there, I collaborated with my hairstylist, and she recommended getting a gloss to which I agreed with as long as it would get me closer to my hair goal. I told her I knew nothing about hair products/processing so I trusted her judgment. When the appointment was finished, I inquired about the color because it was not what I had hoped for. She told me that I needed to book a balayage. OK, fine. Not the first time that I had been disappointed with my hair, but I didn’t hate it, it just wasn’t what I asked for. The next day, I looked more thoroughly through my hair, and it looked like I hadn’t even had a service the day before. I messaged the salon with my concerns to which they replied that they would respond to me the following day. I heard nothing. I inquired again, and did not hear anything again, so I stopped in the salon myself. Upon my arrival, the staff turned their backs and refused to make eye contact with me, so it was obvious that the matter was discussed, however, I was still not contacted. I made it clear that I did not want to ruffle any feathers, I just wanted to understand what was done to my hair and why I still had so many grays visible and to see if I could get the issue corrected. I was not asking for free services, I just did not understand how I got my hair colored and still left with gray hair. I went with an open mind because I’m genuinely flexible, more than reasonable and overly understanding… But I also value accountability. Mistakes enable us to learn and ultimately achieve success. However, their resolution was to give me what I initially asked for at full price... why wasn’t that done in the first place? It is difficult for any person to visualize what a client wants specifically, but the way that I was avoided, was just completely unprofessional. Again, overall hurt over the customer service I received. I would rather give my business to a place that genuinely cares to address concerns rather than hope they just “go away”. I did not go in there hot headed or anything of the sort. I paid over $100 plus my 20% tip to be disrespected and brushed aside. I’m sure there’s some great talent in there, but again, true character presents itself when things are less than ideal. I’d never want to make anyone feel as though they are sub-par at their passion. I just wanted to be addressed appropriately. Unfortunately, this is not the place I...
Read moreIn January 2025, I came to Bloom for a Keratin smoothing treatment. This was my second time visiting Bloom for Keratin; the first was in November 2024 with Brittany and I loved it. Since Brittany no longer did Keratin, I scheduled an appointment for January 7th 2025 with Erica. I made the appointment 5 months before, because I wanted to time it a few days after my color and highlight appointment (with my hairstylist on Amelia Island. ) The day before my January 7 appointment, I received a call saying Erica was sick and couldn't make my appointment. I was told there was no appointments until over a week later. I asked if anyone else could do it sooner and was told, "no." I was very disappointed, as I had scheduled this appointment 5 months in advance, put down a deposit, and timed the appointment for a few days after my color/highlight appointment, which is what you're supposed to do with Keratin. So, I hesitantly accepted a January 15th appointment. When I arrived January 15, I was greeted by another stylist, who I never met. I was never told my appointment wouldn't be with Erica, as originally planned. When I asked the stylist about this, she mentioned that Erica wasn't sick the week before. It seems she was just overbooked. It appears that since I wasn't a regular monthly Bloom customer, my appointment (made 5 months in advance) was less important. Keratin is over $400; it seems very disreputable and unprofessional to treat a well paying customer this way. I was very insulted and caught off guard, but continued with the treatment with the new unknown hairstylist because I wanted to get my Keratin done. Had I known I would misled and put off, I would have found another salon to do my keratin - one which kept their word and their appointments and treated their customers with more integrity and honesty. I will also say that the treatment with this new stylist was not the same as the one I'd had before; I left with very stiff and somewhat sticky hair and it had an odd smell. It didn't feel or smell at all like other Keratin treatments I'd had at Bloom or other salons. I was very disappointed with my second experience at Bloom. Just a...
Read moreI hate to complain about a business that I’ve only been to once, but I feel like the experience I had today was enough to validate a review.
I want to start off by saying the workers here are lovely. You can tell they do care about their work and are passionate about their craft. However as a first (and unfortunately last) customer, I would assume that they wouldn’t give me their most amateur stylist to make the first impression, but unfortunately they did. This poor girl (who was very sweet but very timid) was so inexperienced. she had to ask more than 5x for help, was so nervous that she cut herself halfway through, and overall a bang trim and some layers took 2 hours.
I had to reschedule my day because I had no idea it would have taken that long to look like a mop. I’ve attached a picture to show how uneven my hair is even when they went in twice, because she had to ask for help on how to cut my hair straight. I’m all for helping out inexperienced people get some hours in, but this was far too long and far too sloppy to be considered professional.
I can’t step foot in this place again because I’m genuinely embarrassed at how awful my hair is, and will be putting it up for the next few months until this grows out. I literally have a mullet. $50 even with apparently a first time discount and a free deep condition was too much for this service. It seems like there are plenty of experienced stylists there, but unfortunately I did not get...
