I wanted to write a fair and balanced review of West Wind RV & Golf Resort. We visited in March 2021 and stayed for 4 nights. The price was right and when I made the reservation the lady who helped me was polite and helpful. When we arrived, the check-in was easy and again staff was helpful. We were a bit shocked to see so many park models in a place that still calls itself an RV Park but understandable for the area of Yuma. When I made the reservation, I was very clear to the lady helping me that we had a 45ft motorhome with tow car. When we arrived, I found that they had originally put us into a space that even a 40ft. coach would have had a had time getting into. Upon check-in the lady helping me told me they had moved us into another site and she was not sure why. We had 2 somewhat helpful nice park hosts take us to our assigned site where we again found we could not fit into. They talked between themselves and decided they knew of a larger site. Problem with this resort is it was built in the early 90âs and designed for no larger than 40 ft. RVâs. To get a 45 ft. RV into a site you have to find one with nobody behind you so you can take part of that site. Still the hosts only backed us up far enough in to get off the street leaving our front door opening into a drainage ditch around a palm tree. I said fine, no problem, we could make it work. Due to liability issues, I guess the park hosts are NOT allowed to actually help you back into the sites, only show you the spot you need to hit which again is a bit crazy. The park was laid out with the water, sewer, and power pedestal far apart, not together like most parks. Itâs like threading a needle when you back into the site. The hosts only helped make sure I didnâtâ back over the water and sewer. What kept puzzling me was that Good Sam rates this park 10/10/10 and itâs nowhere deserving of this rating. Iâve been to many triple 10 parks and this park doesnât even make the 7/7/7 grade. There are NO tables, NO firepits, just a slab of concrete and gravel. Very disappointed in Good Sam for this false rating. The park was clean, quiet, and well kept except for a few park models which have fallen into disrepair and allowed to stay that way. Again, you get the feeling walking around that you are NOT in an RV park but a trailer park that is going downhill. We found most of the park staff or what appeared to be volunteers helpful and polite. The two exceptions were an older lady at the front desk which I asked one morning for directions to view the new border wall. She forgot she was an employee and made a very unprofessional statement about the border wall being a âridiculous looking thingâ. Maybe ridiculous in her mind but when you are working for someone else you should keep your politics to yourself. The second negative with employees was an older lady at the front gate. We entered one morning in our tow car which is equipped with a windshield cam that records not only video but time, speed, and location. When we came up to the gate, she felt we were traveling too fast and told us so entering the park which is a long driveway type. When we arrived at our site I checked the camera and found we were traveling 8mph at the entry which is less than the 10mph posted. Fine I said, we can handle one somewhat grumpy older lady. This was our first visit to Yuma and most likely will be our last. If youâre on a real budget, Yuma is the place to come. If you would rather spend a little more and stay in a true 10/10/10 RV park you wonât find...

What a night yesterday, the concert was good but the dinner and service from ALL the staff was amazing. I don't think I have ever been made to feel so special like that ever. And what's more amazing is I was treated the same as I always am there at the resort.
I love your folks there, from the top, all the way to the resort residents who step up and dress up to put style to a night out.
From the restaurant I ordered the prime rib end cut for dinner. I have forever been spoiled now. đ Good God that was good! Alfonso with his staff brought out dinner and they made dinner feel so special. Tall Mike in the bar is amazing, his smile and greetings are infectious, he is able to do his job and put people at ease without missing a beat.
The waitress who's married to Eric, the DJ/KJ, came over and talked with my wife and I. She asked my wife if she could give me a big hug for helping her contact a couple would came to my show Thursday but forgot to pay the bill. They got caught up in dancing at the end and both thought the other had paid. Carol connected with me on Facebook to follow my shows, so I sent her a FB message and they came in the next day to pay the bill. Apparently they had a good time and spent a bit of money.
Kymberly Armstrong dressing the part and greeting folks last night at the door is just another example how the resort goes the extra mile. Kymberly going to shine bright in her new roll at the resort. The usher who showed us to ours seats knows who I am and chatted briefly about my show. Not sure if I've ever seen him at a show before but he also made me feel like I was someone special.
I'm thinking Russ is going to make a great AD, MC and host at the resort events. He displays a strong professional presence on stage and just the way he's introduced the band to the crowd was nice. Well done Russ.
Joyce you're doing an amazing job there. You leadership shines through your people.
Hell even the parking crew were enjoying the night and getting the job done. One of them saved us from getting hit while we were parking Tia's VW Bug. Some truck was going to back up into us and the 2nd parking crew member ran up and got the drivers attention, he stopped him from hitting us. The truck just couldn't see the little bug behind him. My wife would have been so heart broken to have her baby crunched by a big 4x4 truck. He saved the day and our wonderful night out at the resort.
Thank you and Forever...
Read moreStayed for 2 nights. Would definitely stay again when in area, maybe use their Fall Special next season.
Two signs out at road--take one to the right (when facing both) for main entrance and to find the registration office (which is right beside the activities office).
Nice welcome, clear instructions on the map of where our spot is, where the laundry, trash, and recycling (kudos), are, as well as some of the other facilities. Then we were led to our spot by customer service people who then helped direct us backing into our spot. Nice.
Back-in spot for us had solid fairly level ground with gravel, and cement pad in center of spot so trailer went on one side of pad and truck parked on other (after unhooking).
Set up like neighborhood with paved roads, no rise/curb, so easier to get in/out of parking.
Lots of activities, classes, and facilities for sports, crafts, fitness, and fun. Did some silversmithing in lapidary shop which is quite well equipped in a small area, organized but leaves not loads of room for workstations. Missed the Zumba class, but great they have both land and pool versions. They have sand volleyball courts too!
Fitness room is pretty good, and has those stand on jiggle machines in addition to treadmills, stationary bikes, etc and some free weights. No rowing machine, didn't see any pull up bar or suspension types of fitness options, but fairly good otherwise. Didn't smell like chemical fresheners and cleaners as much as some, but could be a but much for those sensitive... was on the edge for me, so I skipped it... good air flow in there though. Didn't have enough time to do everything of interest as it was.
Golf shop had cute tennis/golf skirts and clothes in addition to the usual. There is a bar, and a cafe on the other side which had a view of part of the gold course. ATM is inside by fitness center and ballroom/event center. Laundry card machine is by it and at other locations too.
Drinking water (filtered and RO, etc) station had a hose with on/off they worked great to fill several water containers in a row with same coins... also drove our short travel trailer up when leaving to fill the fresh water tank for dry camping and boondocking--worked great...
