Mouthwatering Egyptian Grilled Prawns in Montreal 🦐

After hearing so much about this place, I finally got to try it—and it did NOT disappoint! Arrived at 5 PM with plenty of seating available. You can either order at the counter or sit down first. The restaurant is small but clean, with friendly and hygienic staff. Here's what we ordered: 🔥 Grilled Black Tiger Prawns (MUST ORDER!) – $30/lb We got 1 lb with the spicy option (regular is dry-grilled). The sauce was rich, savory, and packed with umami—like an Egyptian-style butter garlic shrimp! Ate 7-8 in one go—so addictive! 🥵 A bit heavy though, so next time I’ll try the regular version. 🐟 Fried Whitebait – $20/lb Half a pound was plenty! Unexpectedly amazing—crispy, lightly salted, and super fresh. Perfect with chili sauce for dipping! Great beer snack 🍺. Might try larger fish next time for more meatiness. 🐠 Grilled Seabass – $20 each Insanely fresh—the flesh was sweet and tender. We chose the grilled version (could’ve gone fried), and the charred seasoning was perfect. The owner recommended this method to preserve the natural flavor—so good! 🐙 Grilled Octopus – $58/lb Biggest letdown 😩 Ordered half a pound, but the portion was tiny. Texture was mushy, not springy, and drenched in oil. Flavor was okay, but not worth the price. (Pro tip: Watch them pick the octopus—ours seemed like a bad cut!) 🥗 Sides (Small 10/Large15) All large portions. Freshly fried potato wedges were steaming hot, crispy, and oily—SO satisfying! 🥔 The rice was mediocre (typical shawarma-style), and the pita/salad were just okay as fillers. 💯 Overall: Fantastic experience—great service, cash-only (tax-free!), and definitely worth returning! 📍 Restaurant Le Canal 💰 ~$50 per person 🦐🔥🍽️✨😋👌💖 (Emojis to match the delicious vibes!) #EgyptianFood #MontrealEats #MontrealFoodie #CanadianLife #MTLFoodScene #OttawaLife #GrilledPrawns #SeafoodLover #GrilledOctopus #FoodAdventures #HiddenGems #CashOnlyEats #MustTryMontreal
