π½οΈ Chicago Restaurant Week Review | Roka Akor
Chicago Restaurant Week is here β letβs eat, friends! π (The Restaurant Week menu is included below π) On the way to the restaurant, I passed a dark window and joked, βWhat kind of place is this? So dim inside!β β¦And then realized it was Roka Akor. π β¨ Starters β Pretty average overall π₯ Beef Gyoza β too much ginger, filling was dry and tough. π£ Tuna Sushi β okay flavor, but not impressive for a $100+ per person spot. Maybe they toned it down for Restaurant Week. π Yellowtail Sashimi β fresh, but not as fatty as I prefer. β¨ Mains β The highlight! Great ingredients here π₯© Grilled Wagyu Steak β delicious and tender! Didnβt even need the sauce β the meat flavor was perfect on its own. Mushroom side was just okay. π Black Cod β thick, rich, and buttery. The sesame-lemon sauce cut through the richness nicely β really enjoyed this one! β¨ Desserts π Berry Cream Bowl β not sure what itβs called π but creamy and not too sweet. π« Chocolate Lava Cake β warm with a gooey center, a bit sweet, but balanced with vanilla ice cream. My boyfriend booked this place and said he wouldnβt come back. I went in with no expectations and found it pretty decent overall. After checking reviews online, many rave about their omakase (maybe the Restaurant Week menu is just less exciting). Iβd like to try more β hopefully my boyfriend changes his mind after reading this! π π Roka Akor - Chicago 456 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60654 π² Restaurant Week: ~$75+ per person π² Regular dining: ~$100+ per person #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #RestaurantWeek #RokaAkor #JapaneseSteakhouse
