🍽️ Chicago Restaurant Week Review | Roka Akor

Chicago Restaurant Week is here β€” let’s eat, friends! πŸŽ‰ (The Restaurant Week menu is included below πŸ‘‡) On the way to the restaurant, I passed a dark window and joked, β€œWhat kind of place is this? So dim inside!” …And then realized it was Roka Akor. πŸ˜… ✨ Starters – Pretty average overall πŸ₯Ÿ Beef Gyoza – too much ginger, filling was dry and tough. 🍣 Tuna Sushi – okay flavor, but not impressive for a $100+ per person spot. Maybe they toned it down for Restaurant Week. 🐟 Yellowtail Sashimi – fresh, but not as fatty as I prefer. ✨ Mains – The highlight! Great ingredients here πŸ₯© Grilled Wagyu Steak – delicious and tender! Didn’t even need the sauce β€” the meat flavor was perfect on its own. Mushroom side was just okay. 🐟 Black Cod – thick, rich, and buttery. The sesame-lemon sauce cut through the richness nicely β€” really enjoyed this one! ✨ Desserts πŸ“ Berry Cream Bowl – not sure what it’s called πŸ˜‚ but creamy and not too sweet. 🍫 Chocolate Lava Cake – warm with a gooey center, a bit sweet, but balanced with vanilla ice cream. My boyfriend booked this place and said he wouldn’t come back. I went in with no expectations and found it pretty decent overall. After checking reviews online, many rave about their omakase (maybe the Restaurant Week menu is just less exciting). I’d like to try more β€” hopefully my boyfriend changes his mind after reading this! πŸ˜‰ πŸ“ Roka Akor - Chicago 456 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60654 πŸ’² Restaurant Week: ~$75+ per person πŸ’² Regular dining: ~$100+ per person #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #RestaurantWeek #RokaAkor #JapaneseSteakhouse
