🍽️ My First Chicago Restaurant Week Experience — Esmé
Overall, my friend and I felt it was just okay — nothing truly blew us away. Maybe it was the menu choice? 1️⃣ Starter A salad with carrot slices, nuts, lettuce, and sour cream — refreshing and light, but not memorable. The other snack resembled a crispy rice stick, but the seasoning powder was too heavy and got cloying after a few bites. 2️⃣ Second Course I chose the foie gras — the best dish of the night! 🦆✨ Served with pumpkin purée, it was subtly sweet and rich in flavor. 3️⃣ Main Course Wagyu Short Rib – presented like Beef Wellington, but with a slice of salty sausage in the middle (which honestly made it taste odd 😅). The beef itself was tender and flavorful, but the portion was tiny — gone in two bites. 4️⃣ Dessert (extra $) Orange Sorbet – sweet with a fresh citrus note, but contained a crunchy element (sea salt caramel maybe?) that left an overly salty aftertaste, making the overall taste a bit strange. #ChicagoEats #RestaurantWeek #EsméChicago #MichelinDining #FineDining #ChicagoFoodie
