🇨🇦 Ottawa’s Le Cordon Bleu French Restaurant: Impressive Talent!
Recommended in a group chat, this Le Cordon Bleu restaurant was a must-try. I booked it right away—$159 prepaid, with tips and drinks extra. Four courses, and while their homepage doesn’t show the menu, I’ll let the photos do the talking! 🍴 First up: bread, of course! Three types served with butter—light and subtly flavored, not overpowering. 🍴 Amuse-bouche: Shrimp spring rolls with a Vietnamese vibe. The shrimp was tender, wrapped in ultra-thin pastry. The sweet chili sauce was a bit bold; a touch diluted would’ve balanced the first bite better. 🍴 Soup: Reminiscent of Russian beef stew, but the 酥饼 (flaky pastry) on top was perfect! It checked all boxes: generous, diverse ingredients, large truffle shavings, and thick-sliced foie gras. The soup itself was top-tier, though slightly greasy—a heavy start before mains. 🍴 Pre-main course: A delicate fish mousse from eastern France, deliciously mild, paired with salty crackers. Tender lobster meat, asparagus free of earthiness, and a surprise: young carrot greens with a gentle bitterness, creating a lovely dance of bitter, salty, and sweet on the palate. Plus, a unique vegetable I’ve never seen in Beijing or Shanghai supermarkets! 🍴 Main course: Absolutely flawless! Texture, taste, and flavors harmonized perfectly—rarely do dishes feel this complete. The standout? Wood sorrel (酢浆草)—a delightful surprise! Dessert and petit four were lovely too. 💐 Bonus points: Hot dishes arrived on warm plates, cold ones on cool plates—proper service! 💐 The chef was fantastic, patiently explaining dishes and honestly answering all my ingredient questions. Final bill with tip: $229. #OttawaLife #LeCordonBleu #FrenchCuisine #OttawaFood #FoodieAdventure
