🇨🇦 Ottawa French Gem | Le Cellier 🍷

Le Cellier 📍49 Rue Saint-Jacques, Gatineau, QC It’s hard to deny—Quebecers really know their way around good food! When it comes to delicious eats, a trip across the border to Quebec never disappoints. 🥐 Pre-Meal Breads 🥖 Freshly baked and served piping hot—so warm they almost burned our fingers! The crust is crispy, while the inside stays soft and fluffy. We sliced a little opening and dropped in a butter ball, which melted into the bread in no time. Compared to pre-portioned butter packets, these butter balls feel so much more thoughtful and delicious—such a nice touch! Warm Burrata 🍅🧀 This dish is a stunner: a whole tomato stuffed with creamy burrata, with the top half of the burrata gently torched until melty and gooey. The tomato underneath stays fresh and juicy, creating a lovely contrast. It’s served with a bed of arugula, toasted pine nuts, and crispy focaccia, all drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Light, fresh, and bursting with bright flavors—such a refreshing starter! Steak To Share 🥩✨ We went for the 20oz ribeye, and it was perfect. Marbled with just the right amount of fat, it’s tender, juicy, and cooked to a flawless medium rare—pink in the center and full of rich, meaty flavor. The sauce on top is unique: a mix of parsley, onion bits, and a subtle hint of fennel that adds a wonderful aromatic twist. It comes with a whole roasted potato, topped with a mound of creamy mashed potatoes and crispy bits of pork—warm, savory, and packed with hearty flavor, with that distinct porky richness shining through. The roasted veggies on the side are simple but satisfying, with a nice variety to balance out the meal. A quick note on parking: they don’t have dedicated spots, so you’ll need to find street parking nearby. We booked a 5 PM slot on Saturday and got lucky—there was a spot right outside the restaurant when we arrived! Since we speak English, they kindly provided us with an English menu, and our server was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I used to have a misconception about French restaurants—thinking they’d cost over 100 CAD per person and leave you still hungry. But this spot proved me wrong! The food is delicious, portions are generous, and the price is surprisingly affordable. We left absolutely stuffed, with an average cost of just 60 CAD per person. Le Cellier is a true gem—perfect for a cozy dinner, a date night, or simply savoring great French cuisine without the fuss. From the warm bread to the tender steak, every bite feels like a labor of love. If you’re in Ottawa (or don’t mind a short trip to Gatineau), this spot is a must-try! 🌟 #OttawaFood #OttawaLife #OttawaFoodGuide #OttawaEats #FoodieFind #HiddenGemRestaurant #FrenchCuisine #DateNightSpot #RestaurantRecommendations #CozyVibes #FoodAdventures #DeliciousEats #SteakLovers #OttawaDining 🍴🥂✨
