Just finished my finals and decided to explore Athens for two days before heading back to China! Honestly, Athens is totally worth a visit. ✈️ Flew from Milan to Athens (about 2.5 hours). From the airport, take the X95 bus to the city center – buy tickets at the small kiosk near Exit 5 (cash/card accepted, €5.5). It goes directly to Syntagma Square. 🗺️ My One-Day Itinerary: 1️⃣ Breakfast at Stani 🥛 A century-old yogurt shop! tried their signature yogurt + a fried dough ring (tasted like youtiao) + Fanta. Cost: ~€12. Yogurt was great, but the fried thing got after a few bites! 2️⃣ Syntagma Square 💂 Watched the changing of the guard ceremony – fun and unique! 15-min walk from Stani. 3️⃣ Panathenaic Stadium 🏟️ Birthplace of the modern Olympics! Ticket: €10 (student €5). Psst: There’s a free entry hack – search Xiaohongshu! 4️⃣ Acropolis 🏛️ Home of the Parthenon! Ticket: €30 (bought mine on Fliggy for ¥157). Requires uphill walking – WEAR SUNSCREEN! ☀️ 5️⃣ Plaka District 🏘️ Charming streets, beautiful views, and a lively atmosphere. Loved it! 6️⃣ Lycabettus Hill (Wolf Hill) ⛰️ Walked from Plaka (~25 mins). Planned to take the cable car but got lost thanks to Google Maps 😅. Ended up hiking – took 30 mins. SUNSCREEN AGAIN! The 3 PM sun was brutal. Best time to visit: Sunset – views are stunning! 7️⃣ Dinner at Karamanlidika 🍽️ Ordered beef with potatoes + shakshuka (North African eggs). Cost: €20.5. Food was delicious! Service was okay – no racism issues during my visit. ⚠️ Safety Tips: Athens felt safer than expected, but watch your belongings – pickpockets are common in Southern Europe! Avoid staying near Omonoia Square (my area was sketchy). 💬 Overall, Greece is budget-friendly and beautiful!
